Minis seems compatible with existing epic scale marines.

Why, what ever dost thou mean?  
On topic though: While I see the obvious risk, as a fan of the now-defunct specialist games (and someone who wishes they jumped on that wagon many years ago), I hope this gets funded and goes through smoothly. It's heartening to see fans keep those old SGs alive.

Yea, they might stray a bit too close for comfort IP-wise.
Although there are other 6mm ranges clearly intended as Epic substitutes that are alive and well, so perhaps GW don't care much about 6mm ever since they abandoned epic?

Certainly sailing close to the wind - twin cannon on a large transport/tank? However, GEW might be hard pressed to take action given they have stopped supporting the epic range years ago.
As others have said there are Tyranid and Sisters and many more in 6mmin all but but name and GW has done little to stop these.

That was my exact point. Steelcrow (and others) do already sell models similar to excisting GW epic design and has not been brought down by GW legal. (either because GW don't care or because they don't expect to win in court if it came down to that)

Because we clipped GW's balls.
And because GW knows that there were plenty of law firms ready to jump in on the GW v CHS case that would looooooove to get a crack at making good precedent.
