Subject: Sega registers Dawn of War 3 website domain, sparks speculation of new sequel
A Dawn of War 3 website domain has been registered and updated by Sega, the parent company of Dawn of War developer Relic. The move could simply be Sega's way of securing the website in case it decides to bring the series back at a later date. But as the last major expansion for Dawn of War 2 was released in early 2011, the company may feel the time is right to reintroduce the series.
Should Dawn of War 3 become a reality, it wouldn't be the only Sega title based in the Games Workshop universe; one of the company's subsidiaries, Creative Assembly, is currently working on Total War: Warhammer.
The first title in the DoW franchise, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, is a real-time strategy game released on the PC in 2004. It was praised for its graphics, gameplay and accurate recreation of the Games Workshop universe. The game received three expansions before Relic released the markedly different Dawn of War 2 in 2009. The sequel was a hybrid of real-time strategy and role-playing, with the base building elements of the previous game removed completed.
Following Sega's purchase of Relic after previous owner THQ went bankrupt in 2013, Relic game director Quinn Duffy stated there was a "strong possibility" that the company would work with Games Workshop on a new Dawn of War game in the future.

Awesome I'm looking forward to this. Wonder how they'll evolve the engine this time.

I'd love if it was more like Dawn of War 2, too. I always hated playing RTS online, but DoW2? Damn, now that was some intense online action with massive micro-management of my very expensive space marines.
Either way, I'll love DoW3. And Space Marine 2. Damn it, give me Space Marine 2, the first one was AWESOME.

I liked the base building of DoW I, but DoW II was also really great. I'm at a mix of what you want it to be, but whatever they do, I'm taking it

I personally hope it's more of DoW 1. DoW 2 Isn't a bad game, but I just dislike it, and want a return of the base-building and large armies.

I hear you there matey. How fondly I remember my Necron forces trudging their way toward my opponent's base, with a Lord at the head of them. Particularly when you had an Activated Monolith teleport in to fry everything with the Particle Whip and gauss relays.

That's a rather high order request, given the number of factions involved, plus the amount of voicework, animations, etc.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And personally, I found DoW2 to be far better. DoW1 had too much Starcrapped in it for my tastes. There's games that do base building well, but starcrapped isn't one of them.

I couldn't agree more with that. Some factions I wouldn't mind getting dropped (Dark Eldar and SoB I can live without) for nids and necrons to be in one game, but all at once would be appreciated. I also hope my PC is up to running it.

I would personally be upset if I had to pay extra for orks. The dialogue for them is pretty funny and I'm good at their playstyle

Call me ol' fashioned and fanboy, but I sure as hell want my Space Marines campaign.
There's nothing like exterminating some Xenos for the God-Emperor in the morning.

Could do that with an IG or Sisters campaign, though

I think we can all agree who the best DoW voice belongs to.
Spoiler:

I hope it's more like DoW 1. 2 was far too much micromanagement. Actually I want it to take ques from the table top game more then anything. Like no base building or unit training, just have a set army. (I would like it to be turn based.)
