SO I was wondering if its better to spam trukks or take waggons for my boyz?
I'm planning on test playing a fast mobile ork army (something like warboss+painboy on bike in a squad of warbikes) I was just wondering If Trukkz are better than waggons or other way around?

Is the 5 battle wagon formation worth looking into for this?

Many thanks people of dakka..

P.S iam not talking about Forgeworld stuff.

If you're not taking a battlewagon formation, you're probably better off with a mix.
Also, don't forget forgeworld transports - they're really good for their points.

So I have pondered many times about the Blitz Brigade formation. And at first I was very excited for it, SCOUTING BATTLEWAGONS, WAAAAAGH!!!

But then, I realized it only has 2 true benefits.
1. Having slotless BWs so you can have other units in heavy support. like Lootas, mek guns, or walkers
2. Being able to redeploy/counter deploy to either confuse your enemey, avoid LOS from lascannons on turn 1, or redeploy to an objective.

Heres the thing with scouting battlewagons. If you scout, then you cant charge. So you can get all your tanks 12" forward, and if you go first you can move again, but guess what, you are just setting yourself up to get blown up and charged.
So after you make the full 12" forward scout move, like orks would want to do, you are stuck with a turn of sitting, or trying to hide somewhere so you dont get countered.

I have run battlewagons without the formation and usually have no trouble getting a turn 2 charge, and actually get to avoid some fire because of the distance involved.

Although if you fill all the wagons with boyz, and scout and move them all into your enemy deployment zone, then even when he does blow them up, they all just pile out and clog up his table half, which is funny in its own right.

EDIT: other theory is to take the Blitz Brigade Formation with the hoard formation, the 10xunits of boyz.

Scout the empty wagons up and make a wall in midfield putting them bumper to bumper. You now have a wall of AV12 that blocks LOS to your massive unit as they trundle up the board.

I run Blitz Brigade in most of my 1750+ Ork lists and from my experience it is a very viable army tactic. Bare bones you can get 100 Boyz that will be in charge range on Turn 2 but I prefer to bring 2-3 "specialist" ork units like tankbustas or flash gitz plus a killkannon on the bwagon to put out some much needed dakka to thin the enemy before the boyz get stuck in. Important thing about having scout is you have the option of a 12" move to help counter any tricky deployment. If you expect an aggressive enemy push then you don't have to scout some of the wagons so they can charge Turn 1. This also frees up your heavy support slots but a typical Blitz list does eat up a lot of points on filling those 5 bwagons.

Trukk lists have their purpose but operates on more of a threat overload method with large numbers of smaller units. Trukks are great for armored units (manz) but not all that great for specialists orks who only have 6+ saves. That being said if you spam enough of them then it becomes more difficult for the enemy to destroy them all.
