Greetings everyone!

Now that AoS is out, I'd like to try and think about trying out the game in the future with a small force. I'm looking at fielding warriors of Chaos, and I've got a rather unusual model I'd like to think about using.



As I said, I intend for this to be a small force, maybe three to four warscrolls, five at most. One of which will be Archaon on foot, if I can find the warscroll for him specifically.

I can only find a warscroll with him on his mount, which has stats reflecting his mount. I of course can use the rules for his armor, weapon, and all wargear outside of his mount from the existing warscroll, but I was curious if anyone knew of a way to field this model as Archaon or just use him a chaos lord, etc?

Bit of a conundrum, and I would appreciate any one giving thoughts on this. Also, would it be a worthy endeavor to contact GW and alert them to the oversight of this model, as it is somewhat limited in availability, but still available out in the wilds of E-Bay.

Actually, check the bottom of the warscroll compendium. Says to use the Warscroll for "Chaos Lord" for an "Archaon on foot" model.

I'd make a custom one using the existing Archaon profile and just drop his speed and some of his wounds.

You could also consider talking to your friends that you'll be playing with if, say, you could adjust his stats a little (give him the same weapons Archaon model has, add a wound) for more story-driven/themed force if you want to use Archaon himself. AoS seems to allow for a lot of fluffy, thematic armies now.

Unless it's just the mini you care about, then it's the lord!

Yea, I'd like to take the wound stat and movement stat down to that of a regular Lord, but keep the wargear rules sans the mount for a game or two and see what I can see.

Of course I'll have both Warscrolls and can use the mini as just a Lord, or go nuts with him as a Archaon with slightly adjusted stats reflecting the loss of the mount. Love the mini, and am going to paint him up in slightly blue/black shades so I can field him as either a Tzneetch themed Chaos Lord or Archaon himself without his stylin' ride.

We'll see. This is a back-burner project for sure, but something I'd like to try as the AoS rules interest me far more than the old-school fantasy rules ever have.

There are many models, like the orc warlord, who have a line about "and some ride a boar".

I don't think anyone would have a problem with you using archaeon on foot. Same statline, just don't use the mounts attacks, and reduce his movement.
