In fluff terms, were AdMech forces(such as the skitarii) known to use (at any given point) other IoM vehicles such as the Baneblade?

They put a lot of effort into building them. I don't see why they wouldn't use them as well. I kinda think the newer AdMech models are the upgunned special forces side of things, when the majority of Tech Guard armies will consist of very Guardlike forces.

As Flinty said, the current 40k Skitarii represents a 'Mars pattern' force, not every single type of Skitarii. In the old Epic fluff Hypaspist Skitarii were pretty much Guardsmen.
