As the title says, can a command squad that has taken bikes buy a transport as well?
Of course they can not get in the transport, but nothing in the codex seems to contradict it.

For a Gladius, it is possibly another free tank!

Yes. There's no restriction on taking a dedicated transport as well as taking Space Marine Bikes for a Space Marine Command Squad.

Note of course the transports are only provided for free when a Battle Company (two Battle Demi-companies) is chosen, not just for taking a Gladius detachment.

EDIT:

There was also an argument that went on in this thread about whether you could deploy a unit in its dedicated transport if that unit is not able to embark (because of its unit type). I wouldn't recommend trying it on, and don't think it makes much sense, but yeah.

They can. It follows the similar reasoning why a 10-man Tactical Squad can take a Razorback, despite the squad not being able to embark (though, you can, of course, combat squad and put one 5-man in).

Bikes are "Very Bulky"

DROP POD ALL THE BIKES!!!!! (lol, don't try this)

But yes, I don't recall seeing anything that restricts you from "buying" a transport after you get bikes...

I understand that you're joking, but to avoid confusion from some of our newer players...

Bikes can't embark on Drop Pods because in the absence of a specific permission (like Dreadnoughts have for Drop Pods), only Infantry models can embark on Transports. Bikes are Bikes. They aren't Infantry.

Also being very bulky they take up 3 slots each so the command squad is also over capacity as well as breaking the only infantry rule...

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Only infantry can embark as they say.

A bike carrying transport would be kind of cool though, like a flier or something that could parachute them straight into combat.

Bikes can in fact ride inside a Thunderhawk SHF. Or at least they used to be able to.
