It looks pretty awesome to be honest, though as usual comes with the exorbitant GW price tag.

My main issue though is this - it has these cords. Wont they get in the way when you open the lid after shaking the dice?

At 70$ I don't see anyone except for diehard khorne fans or collectors throwing down for one. It it were like 15-25 I could see them selling, but it's just a exorbitant price of a glorified cup.

With alternates like this on the market, why?

On a related note, people go pretty apes--t over dice cups. Some serious leatherwork going on to toss dice around.

Not sure where you are seeing this for $70. On the GW website they are selling the shaker with faction dice for $40. And while that is still a lot of money, Warmachine faction dice are $20 by themselves. I have many more important uses for $40 but the price seems about right.

Do I have something in my teeth?

You know, if you really want one of these, I use this http://q-workshop.com/p/295/2238/runic-leather-dice-cup-black-.html when I play pen and paper RPGs because it's just kind of neat and fun, it costs less, and I am pretty sure it's a better purchase than the Gee Dubs one, and really, don't get one for wargaming. When I play, I use a deep cigar box to roll my dice in so they don't go everywhere. It's just weird to me to use a dice cup for Warhammer, like, really? Does anyone need this? Okay, you can transport your dice in it and roll them. I can transport my dice in a Crown Royal bag and roll on the table, or use the cigar box, but the cigar box can pull double duty of holding little stuff. Come on GW.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

Heck, if I want a dice shaker, I think I've got one that came with Yahtzee somewhere. Just got to paint it up red, slap some skulls on, and bam! Khorne-ified.

Here you go. It clearly says 70$. OZ$ and US$ can sometimes get pretty easily mixed up, I see.

I have no doubt this thing will sell out. GW's customers eat this stuff up.

That being said, I don't recall ever seeing anyone use a dice shaker in a game of Fantasy or 40K. Ever.

I don't care about the cup as much as the dice. The cup thing will look cool on my shelf and I will probly never use it or just to carry dice.

I casually collect dice and am a huge Khorne fan. From what I have seen these are some of the only dice with a Khorne symbol on them. If there are others out there they are hard to get or really rare and I don't know about them.

Considering the insane amount of dice khorne units can find themselves throwing, I find the shaker a bit silly (seriusly, that 20 "cultist" units can reach 4 attacks each with support, counting only the stuff in the starter)

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Look closely, the lid has flipped sides. When you're traveling the lid cinches down tight over the opening. When you're rolling you uncinch said lid, flip it behind the bottom of the cup, and cinch it down tight again with that brass colored Khorn symbol holder thing-a-ma-jig.

This.

Even ignoring the ridiculous price, the cup just isn't particularly interesting.

Yeah, it's just a cup. Like, come on, I could use a Bender dice cup, why use the red cup? I could make one of these things if I cared.

I suppose its not as bad as paying an extra $65 for the khorne emblem on a crusade case.

$240 for a gak case with a cheap logo on it.

Do people really buy this stuff?

I think I'll give it a miss. I am a Khorne fan, but 40 bucks is just too much for 8 little dice and a glorified Yahtzee cup. If I really want some Khorne-themed dice, I could probably custom-order them from Chessex or something. I'll just save the money I would have spent on this and get some more models instead.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
