I have about 800ish points of space wolves about 3/4 painted (base color and shoulders and weapons mostly done) ... but i am not happy with how they look ... so i am sort of stuck ... do i just put them up and come back to them at another time and see if my outlook has changed? ... or dump them in simple green and start over? ... I think it is the overall cleanliness of how they look at the moment that bugs me the most ...

Can you show us pictures of what you mean?

Do you want them cleaner or dirtier? Both can be achieved after the fact.

If I have any doubts, I let the project sit for a few days before I make a decision. I have stripped squads and started over. Even though I paint in thin coats, I start from scratch as it feels right compared to hiding something underneath more paint.

I know how you feel about getting sick of a color though. I have painted about 40 models in red and I want to move on.

that is about the most recent pic of them ... they had been put up for almost a year already and i pulled some out to start painting again and the look i am not happy with ... i know after some drybrushing and inking they will not be as clean ... but i guess it is the uniformity of their paint with out much variation is what gets me the most.

Oh man, that is easy as pie to fix.

I can see why it might bum you out, but dude, you can easily recover it.

Got an airbrush? (I'm assuming you do given your pinning and cork pictures) You could highlight those vehicles easily. Edge highlight and line, finish off the detail, give it a wash (or oil wash) and you're done.

Honestly, I think the issue you have is that they aren't finished - finish them off and base them and then make a judgment about how you feel.

I think it was here somewhere I read this - never critically judge your models until you have completely finished them.

Well shake it up then. Make your blood claws bright and clean but make the other guys battle worn. Or make each squad a little different. I would say finish one squad and see how you feel then and go from there.

i think some of my issue is .. when i started on them i was doing assembly line painting ... doing all one color then coming back and doing another color etc... so have 2 squads of hunters and 3 squads of long fangs sitting that way .. plus a HQ and drop pod ...

i am going to try to push myself into finishing three of them and then taking a look at those before i decide more i guess.

Ignore the pre-shading he does, just do the post shading

It is pretty straightforward
