So I recently befriended a guy who works at GW, and we had a gaming weekend this weekend were I got to fight Astra Militarum/Miltarum Tempestus for the first time. As well as making some pretty big rules mistakes, he insisted his Chimnera chassis vehicles like Manticors and Wyvern had been changed from side armour 10 to side armour 12. I checked the black library and GW's website for the FAQ's for Astra Militarum/Militarum Tempestus and the rule book to be thorough, but I there was no changes he described.

He then said that it was changed in the FAQ sent to GW store email. Apparently GW sent out FAQ's and Erratas to there employees but don't list them publicly.

Does anyone know if this is true? We're the armour values changed?

If these secrete FAQ do exist do they stand as an errata even though they are not published material?

Bull-drek, plain and simple, he was lying.

GW store employees are given no special insight into the rules or development process, and are kept just as much in the dark as we are.

Even if it was true, it would be a terrible way of errata'ing the game.

This guy was cheating (or maybe giving the benefit of the doubt, he's extremely confused and uninformed). GW doesn't put out secret errata or FAQ's. If it existed it would be on their website.

Call him out on it. In fact, if he doubles down on his claims, I would say you should tell another GW employee (if it isn't a one-man store), because it's pretty unacceptable for their staff to blatantly and childishly cheat at the game with a customer.

Well he says he is going to print them off and give me a copy, but I will have to see how long it takes.

He said he is a casual at his store, so I think it's not a one man show.
For the record, we played at my house, not a store. And he told these facts to not only me but to my bro and our friend.

Krieg! What a hole...

The hellhound line of vehicles has side armor 12, it's possible he thought it applied to other chimera chassis, I know I made the mistake before.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here and assume he isn't lying, it doesn't matter. If they're not published in a FAQ, they aren't official. Doesn't matter what person tries to use them. The writer of the next codex could try to use rules that he personally put into the rulebook but until it's published, it's 'experimental' at best and cheating at worst.

He's a lying cheat at worst, and completely clueless at best.
