Me and my buddy both have chaos armies and was wondering if it would be boring or stupid to play each other. Or for any case, would any race vs same race be playable/boring?
PS
(I play 40k with my chaos and I have bloodletters and bloodthirsters, soul grinders and blood crushers. My friend has Warhammer chaos worriors and models from 10 years ago)

If there is one thing to say about AoS is that it has allowed for different army builds to be more usable then before, opening up more play styles. So Yes, Chaos vs Chaos will be fun.

Chaos is such a large category, ranging from Daemons to WoC to Beastmen to Marauders to Minatours to Chaos Trolls. It's very unlikely you will have the same list, and both of you will have certain areas where you will excel over each other upon.

So as long as you don't have 80%+ of the same models it should be fun. Very brutal and bloody, as both armies tend to do the dirty up in close combat, but still fun.

Or you can go with horrors, flamers, screaming, mounted marauders, ungor raiders, trolls(vomit), hellcannon, cockatrice, and cygors, and run the chaos gunline.
Chaos has less shooting options than most armies, but still has enough to make a focus on ranged combat doable.

You will probably find chaos vs chaos fun, yes. There are so many different ways of building your armies that you'll probably not think of it as the same force fighting at all.

Why should it be boring. Each unit has unique characteristics.
I prefer Khorne for melee goodness.

It would be interesting to see who comes out on top between WoC and a Khorne Daemon army in the new rules.

So far I've played 8 games, and 6 of them have been chaos on chaos. Khorne relies heavily on synergy. The Bloodcrushers only get one attack with their hellblades and it's a 4+, so bringing a Herald on a Jug for rerolls is a must. The Bloodthristers give solid boosts to charging and/or pile-ins. I'd also suggest finding the rules for the bloodsecretor and the bloodstroker from the AOS box set. Bloodsecretor gives all khorne within 18" +1 attack, but he's really slow and once your opponent gets wise, he becomes a target priority.
