Wondering how much terrain people tend to have on their tables as it's been a bit of contention here at the moment. Do you have pictures of your typical board lay outs you play on?

All of it! LOL. We use as much as we can cram on the table. It sometimes leads to a slow first round, but it always off in Round 2 and 3.

I guess you guys are fans of chain rifles and shotguns, and don't much care for HMGs and sniper rifles?

I think that is an interesting type of table actually, there are second-floor clear lines of movement but your models will be exposed, or they can be very limited in sight but tucked away on the ground floor. If the buildings are removable-top and you can move through the corridors, I'd go so far as to say it's an excellent table provided neither player wants to be a completely defensive turtle!

IBHTE is correct. Snipers and HMGs tend to go on the rooftops on stay in the towers... they take quite a bit fire up there though, so it's always a gamble as to how many points of damage they can do before they're eliminated.

And as for shotguns Loki, my butt has been saved by a Bashi Bazooka or Odalisque with a boarding shotgun more times than I can count!

I don't doubt it. From that angle on that table, models below can pick and choose where and how they engage the longer ranged units above. There's enough terrain that flanking them would be no issue at all.

Again, on that table, I don't doubt it at all.

Not that I'm trying to start an argument, but that table is heaven for short ranged troops. A little smoke and longer ranged guns on higher elevations will never shoot anything before being shot in the ass, and shotguns and chain rifles would adore the lower level. It's short ranged heaven, like the table at my FLGS.

A fine source of inspiration.

These are the 5 terrain sets I typically rotate through for my group to play on weekly:

I try to go for a bit of variety, but the top and bottom pics are my two favorites. With the train+walls set a close third. Though maybe that's no surprise at those are sets built instead of simply bought.

I feel like I'm not using enough terrain in my games.

Ours are usually similar to the last 2 certs posted. Gives some open lanes and closed ones for a bit of mix. Other than dtws and warbands on tight boards, drop troops and impersonators can get a bit loose. There would be so many places to drop a tomcat in those first boards, then just climb around pewpewing stuff in the back.

Also see your honoured imperium there tim. Nice, all Pano troops automatically pass guys rolls. Good on those mediocre WIP Swissiles

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

TBH, I feel AD troops and Impersonators are problematic most times regardless of density - there's just always a corner or hole somewhere out of LoF that they'll be able to spring their attack from (not that Impersonators care much about being in LoF or not).

Though I can see an argument being made for less density giving smaller 10-man lists a better chance at trying to cover enough LoF to prevent their approach. But, generally, once you start having to advance troops upfield and worry about all the guys already on the other side of the table on turn 2, AD troops are still gonna find spots to easily jump in from behind.

edit: In general, I find these troops to be more an issue with 10-man list vs horde and/or camo spam list composition than just terrain density and placement.

This looks awesome, but maybe a bit too much. It's just weird to say that.

Admittedly, that table was built by a Bahram player ... (and warcor) - Scarecrow. It'll bring tears to his eyes knowing that it's still getting use.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
