Have one of these... really like it. Just dawned on me though that the main gun has the "ordinance" special rule so that if it fires... all of the other guns on-board can only snap fire (including the rather expensive side-mounted las cannons).

This sounds... ridiculous... Am I missing something?

No that is how it is good sir.
but what you get in return is amazing. letting you rold the 2 D6 and pick for pen greatly reduced your feed back chances and if you want to keep your LC sponsons then it allows you too add just that extra range while you try to get within range for your primary.

That's why, if you have an Ordnance Weapon, you don't buy sponsons except for ablative weapons for a Weapon Destroyed result.

Or to throw out just Feth loads of TL dice or just dice in general HB Sponsons are ok for this.
