I have found that a lot of people argue which is better, but I say...why not use both?
My Sternguard would be bare, relying only on special ammo, and taking drop pods.
My Command squad would be heavily loaded out, taking bikes, all grav guns, all power axes, all storm shields, all melts bombs. (I haven't fully decided on using an apothecary yet, but I will paint one up to test out.)
My Sternguard would drop in, focusing on troops, while the command squads would focus on vehicles.
Once I get enough models I plan to field an all-Sternguard 1st Company Task Force.

Yes, those command squads would be a bit pricey, but I think it will be worth it.
Any comments or suggestions?

I don't think you need the axes and the bombs. Drop the axes to save points and you'll still be a threat to any MC with all the melta bombs.

^This. I run mine with 4 storm shields, 4 meltabombs, pair of grav-guns and an apothecary. They always do well.

Aren't 4 Grav Guns (and I suppose you field Chapter Master smashie with them) enough to kill off most MCs?IMHO meltabombs are a surplus when you can pump out 12 grav shots and have a tanky CC beatstick in the squad.

I'm not a great fan of the meltacide sternguard, I plan to have 7-9 of them barebones in a rhino to provide close range anti infantry support. Maybe a couple of Combi Flamers or Plasma.

Melticide is not a very strong option anymore with the nerfed to ap1, imo.

What's the point of the TL Lascannons if you're giving the Tactical Squads Melta Guns? NEVER try to make a squad flexible. Give them a specific task. If you want to be that close to the enemy, give the Razorback an Assault Cannon or Heavy Flamer.

A single razorback loaded with short range special guns? I don't think it's gonna make it. maybe swap the drop pod to the melta tacticals and put the sternguard in a rhino (or in a AssCan Razorback but they'll get shot once out of it)

That's 3 razorbacks. 1 for each tactical squad. And 3 drop pods.
And lascanons aren't short range. 48".
I guess I could do a 2:1 of lascannons and assault cannons to give diversity to the razorbacks. But the plan is not to have them in the front. I visualized them as being small cheap landraiders. The three sternguard would drop in the front, focusing on troops, while the 2 command squads ride in to focus on the big stuff. Everything else would come in as support.

Whoops, derp on my part. I was thinking a single razor loaded with tacticals equipped with meltaguns ( These are short ranged)

What about a cheaper drop pod version?

Something like:

4x melta guns & storm shield
1x Apothecary
1x drop pod

Four melta shots should slag most vehicles and the 3++ & FnP should keep them alive for at least a second turn.
