Earlier I was drawing up a draft of my future daemons army and was pondering HQ selection. I really like the daemon prince set by GW and I'm not exactly the biggest fan of their lord of change model, so was considering buying and making a daemon prince but using it as a lord of change, after all you can do as you like with such things in the hobby. However, I am reluctant to betray fluff and so was wondering if lords of change always resembled bird like creatures? Wings I can deal with as they are part of the daemon prince set, but not beaks, feathers, spindly limbs etc. I know LOC are constantly changing physically and visually.

Well, Tzeentch in general seems to like the bird aesthetic in general, but I don't know of anything that says they have to be birds.

Also, the Lord of Change is taller than a Daemon Prince, so consider that when converting.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

With Tzeentch being all about change, I assume his deamons can pretty much take any shape they want.

I think I'm going to opt for a mastery level 3 tzeentch herald on a disc instead. The aesthetics of the daemon prince and LOC clash too much for my liking, for example as you said there's the height, lack of staff, huge difference in physical prowess etc. Would be interesting to hear about any abnormally looking LOC though.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I suppose it could easily be within Tzeentch's scheming to have a servant LOC disguise himself using his psychic ability as a certain daemon prince.

I kinda like the idea of a winged, possibly beaked, serpent. Seems far more menacing than spindle legs to me.

For the moment, anyway. Until it transforms into your best friend or a forty foot mole-rat.

My two cents.

I made a thread about this a while back that had some pretty cool answers, that basically addresses the principle behind the bird aesthetic and Tzeentch. Take a look if you're interested.

As for whether it'd be fluffy to do a non-bird-themed Lord OF Change? Of course it would! Tzeentch by definition is chaos and change. He is the swirling maelstrom of infinite possibilities. Limiting himself to one aesthetic would go against the very principles which he represents, which is just another layer of his maddening ways.

Thanks for the reply, only just noticed it.

Whilst as you said it is more than feasible for the greater daemons of tzeentch to take on any shape/form being denizens of the god of change, your thread does explain quite well the whole reasoning for the avian theme.
