WTF is this ?!?!
Trying to set-up a game of AoS and just about the first rule you go through tells you to choose 1 of the 7 realms of battle but they dont tell you WTF they are except give an example that it could be on the realm of fire and that this is important ... SERIOUSLY !?!?!?
I thought WHFB had incomprehensible , tedious and frustrating rules and that AoS was supposed to make it better by simplifying everything but as we can see , GW still fails to make sense out of their GOD DAMNED rules. Good thing they are free because I cant imagine spending a penny on this botched garbage.

Well I would first suggest calming down ;-)
The rules for realms are in supplements, the names and descriptions are in WD and the book with starter set. Unless you are using the extra rules for them, then it doesn't make a difference, they just put it in so everyone knows when this decision should be made.
So far they have done two sets of extra rules in the hard back book for fighting campaigns in the realms. fire and Life so far I think.
If you don't want to get those rules, just ignore the step in set up.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, some war-scrolls (One of the empire caster types is one) have extra rules for certain realms. They say what realms on the scroll, so if you want a buff for that unit then fight there.

so basically roll a die every game to see which realm you re playing on because what kind of fool would allow his opponent to play on his chosen realm if it gives him an advantage to some of his units ...

We have yet to worry about "where we are playing" in any of the 50 or so games I've played or watched.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Well the realms that have rules tend to have buffs for multiple sides. Extra spells, abilities and terrain rules. For example plain of life has a new burgle spell, a generic spell, a wood elf buff and a general buff.
However your attitude seems like you just want to hate on things. What is wrong with a narrative reason for why you are playing a game? There are several scenarios in the book, you could just want to play through them?

Good thing they are free because I cant imagine spending a penny on this botched garbage. Seconded. Calm down and read the rules. It's pretty straightforward. "First you should decide in which of the seven Mortal Realms the battle will take place. For example, you might decide that your battle will take place in the Realm of Fire. Sometimes you’ll need to know this in order to use certain abilities. If you can’t agree on the realm, roll a dice, and whoever rolls highest decides." So, Step 1. Pick a Realm. If you don't know what they are, have a look at the FREE Age of Sigmar Primer that was released. Alternately, if you or your opponent purchased the Age of Sigmar boxed set, you'll find it's also in there. You ONLY need to know which Realm you're on if you have abilities that care. The overwhelming majority of unit War Scrolls don't care. As mentioned, some unit War Scrolls DO care what Realm they're fighting on. If you don't care and your opponent does, roll off to see who gets to decide. That's it. There's no step 2. This is extremely simple. Maybe quit tabletop gaming and take up yoga? Seems like you could use some relaxation. Something this simple shouldn't illicit such a strong emotional response.

Its just theese rules that GW comes up with are so aggravating !
Why is it so hard to make stuff that is straight forward when you are trying to learn something new. Why must there always be this kind of rubbish that just makes you re-read the rules a second time for nothing. I want to play a game , not have an argument over every little thing with my opponent and spend the better half of an evening with my nose in a book rather than enjoying myself and focusing on the game.

So you were always immediately proficient and knowledgeable on WFB/ 40k/WMH/ KoW or whatever game systems you played previously?
You never had to get used to things? Never had to check up on a rule?
From what I've seen so far, the core rules are solid and not really up for debate. Whether you agree they are good rules is a separate issue, but the actual wordcraft is better than previous GW rules have been IMHO.
The warscrolls have thrown up some interesting issues, but with the four page rulebook, the interpretation is normally obvious.
It may well be entirely unintentional, but your posts really do read like you are desperate to find fault.

It's worth reiterating, the massive dump of warscrolls GW gave us to play our old armies are temporary. This is the initial reboot of the system and it'll take a while for the lore to develop. The realms are going to be interesting I think. Massive scope there to develop interesting themed scenarios. I'd love to see a library of scenarios develop ala Advanced Squad Leader (user contributed one especially).

I'm wondering if you're trolling right now. I've never encountered a rule set anywhere that I read once and then was able to throw away the rules because I'd completely mastered them. If you just want to play a game that is simple, involves very few rules to learn and doesn't require bickering with an opponent, might I suggest Checkers? I'm worried that you might find the rules to Chess too cumbersome and difficult to learn.
