Bound means your army is formed of detachments. However it can be any number of detachments, and each detachment can be for a different codex (tournaments usually have further restrictions on how many detachments you may take). All units are now scoring. The standard detachment is called Combined Arms, and is the 1HQ/2Troops minimum one you are familiar with. This detachment also gets a special rule where troop choices in it can't be contested except by other units with that rule. There is also an allies detachment, which I rarely see used, since combined arms detachments can already be for different armies. There are plenty of other faction-specific detachments. Unbound just means your list can contain any quantity of any unit from any codex. But you miss out on the detachment special rules. I haven't seen this played much. Fortifications and Lords of War are now part of a detachment. The Combined Arms detachment lets you take one of each. The allies detachment contains neither. Other detachments vary.
