I want to include a Thunderfire Cannon or two in my army, but that $56 price tag is a little much for me (also don't care for the included Techmarine Gunner model). Does anyone know of some models that will work just as well with minimal conversion? I saw that FW has some sort of Legion Quad Mortar coming out that includes a Techmarine Gunner that basically looks just like a TFC. That may be an option if the price is right. Are there any third party models that work well as a TFC?

I sort of doubt that the FW piece will be cheaper than the GW one. Having said that, if the TFC is "Fine"cast then it would be a ripoff if it were free. Such a large and intricate model would be a bitch to assemble in that god-awful medium. By contrast, FW's resin is much better in my limited experience with it.

Most of the Legion Rapier Weapons Batteries are £30 so they end up being around $46 in the end. A fair amount cheaper than the TFC. The one that was shown at an event earlier this summer even had the TFC cannon on it. It was WIP so who knows if or when it is coming out. But I would rather have FW resin than Failcast.

That or a bunch of plasticard and patience is your best bet. It will more than likely be cheaper. I ended up making my own instead of buying one.

PDC Gaming has a tracked weapon platform that fits the bill... and is cheap, and plastic.
Unfortunately, their website appears to have disappeared into the warp, and while their Facebook page says they're on eBay, I can't find them... :(

There is a model from Mantic that fits somewhat. It is in their Warpath line. Some sort of Forge Father cannon. It is about the right size and has the requisite barrels and treads, but has some aesthetics that don't really fit that well (it has some boards and whatnot on the front shield). I am not really interested in making my own cannon or doing a pretty heavy conversion. I hope they release that Rapier Battery Quad Launcher.
I looked up some images of that PDC Gaming item that you were talking about, insaniak, and you are right, it fits the bill quite nicely (it has three barrels instead of four, but that is okay). I will try to locate the eBay store myself. It looks like their store was down recently. If they do end up being up, I will probably get myself a few of the "Fine"cast Techmarines with servo-harnesses and do a multi-buy of the track cannon.

I am working on something. If I get the time, and it turns out swell enough I might post it up to see your thoughts?

The treads would definitely work, but they would require a buttload of converting to work. And at that point, I might as well just get the regular TFC.

I got a pair of those off their Kickstarter for just this reason.
Their Facebook page says this:
"Ebay store has re-opend. Tracked gun / weapon platforms are up (as singles and multibuys) - heavy weapons, bases etc to follow - please enquire for international orders"

I can't seem to find this ebay store, can you help me with my weak search-fu?

I modeled a 3d printed version that I use. The blue one is the real model.
If you PM me I can send you the STL file and you can price it out at a 3d printing service. I printed my own and it was about $1 worth of material.
Here is mine finished and painted.

Wow, those are pretty awesome! It also looks like you have a 3D printed servo harness. I would have to put some tread pieces on them to give them more detail, but those are great!

Damn, for a dollar those can't really be beat. You could go ham and spend 15$ on materials if you wanted a gorgeous model and it'd still be cheaper by a long shot.
A lot of those models linked are impressive. God help GW in 10 or so years.

If nothing else, I have looked around the Shapeways site and ended up finding Razorback turret mounts, so that will allow me to get more of those made up easier. $7 for a turret without guns is pretty cheap. This way, if I get more Razorback kits, I can build both turrets or convert them into some of the other turrets (I want to make a HF turret and Assault Cannon turret).
That 3D Printed TFC and Servo-Harness is pretty nice though.

Forgeplanet seems to have pretty amazeballs not-razorback-turret. Haven't tried them yet but they looks very cool for around 10 bucks.

I found those in one of my searches. They definitely look the part, but I have read mixed reviews regarding them. I would almost rather just get a bunch of the Shapeways turret parts I found. I have a bunch of turret guns to put in there anyway.

The Rapier Legion Quad Mortar just popped up on DW's website. At ~$46, and in FW resin, it looks to be the best official model. I could get some Techmarine models (that look a lot cooler than the TFC one) and be good. The included crew models looks pretty awesome.
