So I have a few questions! I'm wanting to make a traitor guard army to ally with my chaos space marines. First off would it be a good idea to use scions and guardsmen from games workshop or are there better offerings from other companies? Also where would I draw the rules from? Would I use the Astra militarum codex or are there other homebrew rules or forge world rules? Any other information would be great! Thanks in advance!

IA:13 and IA: Vraks both have Renegades and Heretics army lists. Renegade Guard. Not so much Scions, but you have other unique rules and units. It's all Forge World.

If you want to go Nurgle and pay an arm for your minis, go forgeworld, their Traitors are fantastic. I guess you should better buy spare heads, torsos and so on from the thousand of companies who supply stuff compatible with GW !

Like the guy said above, the Imperial Armour books are your best bet.

You can take Scions using Imperial Armour 13 and take the bloody handed reaver Demagogue option. It allows you to upgrade your Veterans into Grenadiers. These grenadiers get hotshot weaponry, can take two special weapons AND two hot shot volley guns in a ten man squad. Unfortunately they have to choose between caparace armour or the other veteran doctrines.

I quite like these alternative miniature sites. Mad Robot and Victoria are both good for them. I'd also consider flagellant bitz mixed with Mad Robot autopistols, or mixing up Guardsmen, Marauder, and Catachan kits.

Well I'm thinking about using the dreamforge stormtroopers as my carapace armored troops. What troops should I use as my flak armored troops that match the scale of the stormtroopers?
