Hello there
So I have 9 Obliterators that I run 3x3 MoN in any game greater than 2000 points which is great and what not, 700< points on 9x 2 wound Nurgle Terminator.

Anyone else, specifically chaos players, use 9 Obliterators and if so what are your experiences with them?

P.S
9 plasma cannon templates are always good to bust the blob

I use them, though sometimes I opt for a 3 teams of 2 setup.

Always take veteran, the leadership boost helps .

Aside from that, careful usage of their weapons and keeping enemy melee away from them does wonders. Their ability to deep strike us useful against static guard players.

They normally do very well and tend to be the last thing I have that dies, however I've lost more than enough to focused fire.

I love running MoN Oblits whenever given the extra Heavy Support slot. So brutal against any target, and a huge backfield threat for the enemy to always have in mind.

Only problem for me is CSM tends to have a great fast attack and heavy support codex, so picking and choosing gets tricky.

Otherwise another fun lower point game strategy I've used it 3 squads of 1 man MoN Oblits. For those 750 to 1,000 point games it can be really fun to drop little suicide bombs around the board.

I have a friend who uses 9 oblits. They're a nightmare to face, especially with the MON, then they become super hard to kill

I use 3x3 Obliterators with MoN in one CAD. If I have enough points for a second CAD, then I use 3x5 havocs with 12 ac. j dont think these things are Available in KDK and that is why I will never use that codex.

edit: kdk may have obliterators but MoK is a waste of points .

I run double CAD with 6 single Oblits in every list I write nowadays. Works great. No need for VOTLW, and I'm usually running Crimson Slaughter anyways. DS one or two, start the rest on the board. The only thing that gets annoying is keeping track of what weapon each one just fired...

Great for Maelstrom missions, they always have a tool for the job, MSU utility, if theyre focused out its not a huge loss, and believe it or not, having single Oblits hasn't given up First Blood for me really.

I have only faced 3 MoN oblits. They have lost me games. They have made me rebuild my list, so I have something that I can do against them.

Yeah I've actually found Oblits are somewhat easy to counter given enough attention. Especially with such a low model count and number of attacks, any decently sized troop unit can tarpit them all day.

I run a unit of 3 and a unit of 2. (Only have 5 models)
They're great because they can put out good firepower and opponent can't just ignore them, frees up other units to get into position.

The question I have to ask is: are you using multiple CAD's? 2000pts is still fine for a single CAD, but if you're going over that I assume you're using more than one detachment. In which case, it makes a lot of sense to split your obliterators up into 6 diferent squads, since they excel at being a single-model nuisance.

There's a few big reason why you would want squads of 1 Oblit:
It's way easier to deep strike them into a perfectly conceled bit of terrain that gives them good LOS while also denying the enemy LOS when there is only one model in the squad.
An oblit with 1 wound is often only be in LOS of a single enemy unit with AP2, and they often cause excessive wounds which don't spill over onto another oblit.
The oblits themselves won't cause excessive wounds to an enemy target, because they're only shooting once.

For list ideas... spamming tons of zombies sounds like a good idea If you want to do some null-deployment shenanigans, you could also take a few 3 man squads of terminators, and just let your opponent shoot at zombies for the first turn or two.

I run a list with 9x oblits with MoT at 1850 but it is unbound.

Use it mainly for when my necron friend wants to play a decurion and wants to do a cheese battle.

The list contains 3x sorcs in terminator armour, 2 of them are ML3 with no mark and spell familiar (to get endurance or invisibility) and the 3rd one is a monster with MoT and scrolls of magnus. I also use Ahriman as well so have 13 ML's for psychic dice and 9 oblits with 4+ invluns is great.

I try to get as many endurance spells as I can and spread them around. Life leech is great and who ever gets it usually cycles through squads to help regain wounds.

The other part of my list is 8x spawn in 2 groups of 4 and a heldrake with baleflamer.

The list works really well, it is difficult to over power, and has options to deal with most threats.

I find the MoN is great but if you are getting shot with a real weapon then the extra toughness won't help you anyways, so I opted for going for endurance.
