so i have been playing chaos space marines for three years, and my collection consists of

biker lord
biker sorcerer
daemon prince
x6 bikes
x40 cultists
x40 marines
x4 rhinos
x1 forgefiend
x1 defiler
x3 heldrakes
x5 sorcerers (dont ask why)
x5 raptors
x4 obliterators
x5 havocs

so i play iron warriors and 20 kb are in my custom made warband, so what i want to know should i start a new army? or should i extend to chaos daemons and go with the flying circus (the only reason i would play daemons is to have a mono god army of mc) if i do start a new army i wont use eldar, orcs, or tau or necrons. so i honestly dont know the second army would be more competitive. i am also not a fan of summon spam and i am looking for a close combat army that is actually good (im looking at you kdk)

You could expand to Khorne daemonkin and use almost all of your units, you would just have to get actual khorne daemons. They aren;t super competitve but I'ce beaten a pretty good Eldar player with them

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.

Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.

And he will hold the line.

What's left of Cadia

I would honestly say to start a new army, as it will give you an alternative to just playing chaos.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

I would sell models that are useless and then use money for Eldar. Eldar will ways have the best cheese every edition unless 40k gets Sigmarized.

MORE CHAOS!!!

I'm up to somewhere around 12'000 points and am still adding units. I like chaos from the conversion perspective as it allows for (in my mind), the greatest creativity. Plus, it's an easy slide step to Daemons and Daemonkin.

If sticking with just CSM and no allies, you can add more havoks, raptors, warp talons, daemon engines, tanks and bikes. Although it depends on your personal preferences on gaming. If you like to play the same list and just add models to make for bigger games, go with a new army as it'll give you variety. If you're like me and like to take wildly different lists almost every time you play, then you definitly need more chaos.

If you chose to stick with chaos you'd be surprised how effective some of our lesser loved units can be. Maulerfiends can really be fun, as can masses of raptors or bikes or the deep striking helbrute formation. Since you already have 40 cultists, you could always get one or two helbrute for that formation. And everyone likes vindicators, especially ones that ignoe stunned on 2+ with daemonic possession. And close combat defilers. Youi need to see 2-3 of those charge into something. Replace every weapon with it's close combat option and get 7 attacks on the charge and still jhave a battlecannon.

Daemonkin is the cheapest and quikest way to expand. Grab some possessed, bloodletters, hound, a blood thirster and a soul grinder to go with your csm. Boom, you have a new army.

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. Emperor show mercy to mine enemies, for as sure as the Imperium is vast, I will not!

I already have khorne daemonkin and I don't really like to have them, I like to have a close combat flamer army since my chaos space marines are mostly relied on msu and plasma but I was thinking that I should probably stop trying to be comeptitve and start fresh while chaos is my fun army

Exactly! Chaos is my friendly army now. I used to be ultra competitive with CSM but its too weak. Competitive play favors the Daemon Psyker summoning armies. I dont want to go that route of horde play because i dont want to move that many models. I am in the middle of purchasing cruddy IK and repainting it.

If you really love playing with one army, and play different types of games (pick ups, scenario, tournament, apocalypse, etc) than you might just want to keep expanding your chaos. I grew my IG to include nearly every possible option or play style, and its the only army I've kept over the years.

Close combat with flamers huh? Salamanders, Sisters, and Eldar with Wraithguard using D-scythes come to mind.

Instead of buying gw minis - Invest in Greece's economy. You'll have much better luck getting value and return for your money.
