Subject: Would the Demiurg be a good candidate for a new Xenos Army?

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Demiurg
These guys were introduced during Battlefleet Gothic and seems like a Xenos race of generally non-violent dwarf-like miners/traders who are commercial and tend to avoid conflict. They DO HAVE military capabilities and in Battlefleet Gothic the Demiurg rock ships were almost OP and super tough to take down. They do seem to fight against the Tyranids with the Eldar and Tau and once with the IoM. They probably avoid the IoM because IoM hates all filthy Xenos and has a homicidal xenocidal shoot-on sight policy against non-humans. Likely the Demiurg given their commercial nature showed up once to a human planet or fleet asking to barter for goods and we blew them away because bartering with Xenos was unthinkable heresy. ( LOL! high fives*)
Given the lack of ground based fluff for these guys, GW could re-imagine these guys to be anything they want. Mechanical or bionic. Slow and purpose or plain average. It would add another not-chaotic irrationally evil Xenos army to the game. They would be battle brothers with probably the Tau/Eldar, allies of convenience with IoM or Chaos, and come the apoc with nids and necrons.
Thoughts?

They're the Squats. I highly doubt we'd see much from them at any point. Though, I do recall reading somewhere or another that they had joined the Tau Empire.

I'm doubtful. When GW originally developed the Tau they also developed the Kroot and Demiurg with the idea that the strongest of the three concepts would be developed more thoroughly into a complete army. Somewhere in all the development they decided instead to combine all three into a single army. What little was written about the Demiurg besides looking Dwarf-ish was that they wore advance highly mobile and capable combat armor and had mastery over creating artificial intelligence. The concepts developed for the Demiurg are what became the Crisis suit designs and drones. So if GW were to ever do the Demiurg they'd either be retreading the Tau or they'd have to start over from scratch.

the fluff is that the Demiurg created all the tech for the Tau. Also in one of the Ciaphas Cane novels they mention a Tau diplomat being escorted by Demiurg Fire Warriors. so theres that

You mean, GW would actually produce more fluff and would try to enrich the setting instead of selling plastic soldier with unbalanced rules? I'd like it to be true...
More seriously, Demiurg seems to "pacifist" to be played in 40k. When you know there are races like the RakGol (super aggressive xenos predators), Slaugh (big evil guys made of worms) or Hrud which are known to be dangerous for Mankind, one can imagine they would fit better with a tabletop wargame!

Hrud would be a good choice as well.
The Demirug are already in 40k though. They already have models for Battlefleet Gothic.

Not an entire separate race, but part of a Tau Auxiliaries supplement.

I was under the impression that the demiurg weren't as down on automation and AI as the imperium, that those huge Demiurg ships of theirs were piloted by a single Demiurg. We already have several machine based armies available, and we don't need another - looking at Necrons and Cult Mechanicus.

I kind of want a new machine army actually. I want a hive mind style machine army.
None of this "oh we're bickering lords" crap of the Necrons.
