Thanks a ton guys! Really glad you like them
Steal away Inquisitor Bob it's always nice for people to see their ideas live on outside their own work, especially when people do their own takes on them
You've got it absolutely right there I_F the phrase 'just how far people are prepared to go to survive' is basically the motto of 40k as far as I'm concerned
Actually Boundless I do have a Drycha model knocking around that I sort of had a go at a while ago. I'm feeling an exodite dragon-construct coming along...
Glad you like the presentation side of things Youwashock it's definitely something I'll pick up at some point. If and when I get some scenery made I was thinking of trying to make some short comic-strip style things which would be great fun this was kind of a tester for an early stage of that
Rest assured there will be more critters, big and small

Why do you keep her blind? We know you have the means to heal her.
She is our seer. Our Lileathan Dreamer. Child of the Prophet-god. She is blind that she may see what others do not.
The maiden sighed deeply as the narcotic-laced haze began to take effect, so deep in fact that one might easily mistake it for relief. It was the saccade of her sightless eyes that gave it away as something deeper than a simple numbing stupor. But this time...this time something felt wrong.
Like a shot she bolted upright, whirling around in a frenetic dance. Her wheeling feet carved out three circles in the sand faster than her attendant crones could react.
The middle-crone howled an ear-splitting shriek, piercing the moment and snapping the dreamer girl from her trance. The Elder's spear swept across the earth, hastily breaking the fell sigil.
As the gathered crones attended to the collapsed dreamer-girl the Elder leant close, inspecting the broken symbols. In the centre of each pooled greening brackish water. It didn't take her prodigious interpretive skill to decypher what this omen portended. Written clear as day.
'Find the Godborn Lord,' the Elder croaked, 'the Hunt must be gathered. Tell him the Plaguefather returns to claim his due.'

Thanks man! I find I tend to half-paint a lot of stuff and then finish it all in one go so stuff tends to come in bursts alas these guys were the last of my half-painted batch so might be a little while til some more materialise, but hopefully not too long
Still, that's the basic core of the army the latest Crone is the exarch of a counts-as Howling Banshees squad. Then it's just filling stuff out and I'm good for 500pts
I also wanted to do some more background models like the little raptor-construct and the Lileathan Dreamer (although the latter could possibly double as a Warlock). Perhaps some more civilian-types to flesh out the tribe
All these ideas, not enough time!

This might be some of my favourite fluff you've written. The reasoning behind why she's kept blind was just so damn poetic it was beautiful. As for the models themselves they're awesome, I especially love how you painted her eyes and I can see from the model itself that she's blind. The faint reddish ring around her eyes tells of either damaged sight, recent tears or more likely both. Great job.

Thanks man! Really glad you like it both the fluff and the dreamer girl
I love the idea that the reddish ring isn't solely caused by her blindness but also tears. While seeing the future can be as much a curse as a blessing in a lot of universes, I can't imagine that the gift of prophesy in the 40k universe is a pleasant experience.
Necessary for survival absolutely, but pleasant? That I doubt...
The eyes themselves were dead simple really Pallid Wych Flesh dabbed with a Bloodletter wash and then picked out with Pallid Wych Flesh again. Nothing like a single milky eye to make someone look like a hard-case
Oh, and another thought I had a while ago about the 40k universe in general, relating to the blind seer girl. In general, the universe of 40k is a horrible awful place where pretty much everything is worse than the present day. However, in a couple of ways it's remarkably enlightened for a crapsack world*. As far as I can tell the Imperium seems to treat men and women equally poorly, so hey that's technically a bonus. Same with race. When faced with aliens that consume entire worlds wholesale suddenly one's country of origin doesn't matter so much.
The other thought I had is that there basically isn't such a thing as disability in the 40k universe. Think about it. Between 50 and 100% of any given army's models will technically be amputees, limbs replaced with bionics. Similarly Surdilaidh's blindness hardly seems to hinder her.
Not really sure where I was going with that, but hey. It's a neat thought

Love that new seer model. The eyes are great too. Has a twang of ancient greek mythology as well. All seers that were blind could see into the future/next world as they weren't distracted by what's in front of them

Thanks Youwashock for the next attempt I'd like to try and make it look a little more unkempt, but for a Craftworlder I suppose neatness is fitting
The guy on the far left will actually be a test-piece for doing ragged cloth, and another attempt at porting over a fantasy character/concept to 40k his working title is 'The Wight King', so that should be really fun

Thanks dude it's an idea I've been wanting to try out for ages, but only just got round to doing. Basically trying to inject a little more aesthetic differences to the big 5 craftworlds beyond just paint schemes. So Saim Hann that look tribal, Biel Tan that look militaristic (and now slightly homeless after the Fracture), Ulthwe bedecked with charms. Sort of liek this stunning pic of the Legions:
Because Lord knows I don't have enough projects already...

I'd absolutely love a Witcher-style game set in the 40k universe. What a phenomenal idea the sort of idea behind these was to try and build a compelling setting for this particular sliver of the galaxy, so glad to hear that's working!
Also, I'd meant to save this guy for after my Biel Tan dude was finished as there's a little fluff piece of them together tying them into everyone else, but apparently I'm not a patient man so here's my latest little experiment

Thanks guys yeah i was dead chuffed with the tattoo. Wanted it to look vaguely polynesian but no idea if that comes across :S
Not sure if the red armour looks a little flat. My usual tactic of making things look grubby by doing a drybrush anti-highlight of Rhinox Hide doesn't seem to work as well on dark reds. Definitely looks better in person, but not as solid of a technique on reds.
What do people think?
Oh, and elves with axes are awesome

Thanks Salvage! It's always interesting to see which things people like most also, if changing the title of threads didn't cause people confusion in finding things I'd definitely be changing it to 'Ynnead's Space Elf Adventure'
Glad you like them Regnak as for what's next I'm not sure!
Usually what happens is I have a neat idea for a character at work, and then seeing as I can't get cracking straight away I write up a little bit of fluff in a lunch break. Then, depending on how much I wind up liking each little fluff segment I bump the idea up the pecking order
Based on that, it's either a Biel Tan Exile or the chappy on the far left of the WIP pic above

And done!
And so they come, worming through the webway towards us. The other self-interested, drawn to events like moths to a flame. The Beltane, the Hanni. Curious who it is to see who these ripples of fate will affect.
Endil the Beltane, the Homeless, the Little-more-than-Corsair. Greetings.
Osutharal the Snake, the Wildling, the Barbarian. Good that you are here, the more we might understand these savage natives.
How may the humble Angvai be of assistance?
These two are part of another idea I had about expanding the aesthetic differences of the 'big 5' craftworlds beyond paintjob and army composition (because why have one project when you can have a dozen at the same time?).
It also gives me an opportunity to flesh out how my homebrew craftworld interacts with others, which boils down to insults, disdain and the shadow of a deep-rooted inferiority complex. Basically I read up on how the Spartans treated everyone they ever met and applied that to my belligerent, bellicose, short-tempered eldar

Right! I need some input I think.
Much though I really like Osutharal, he hasn't quite captured what I was after for a Saim Hann Wild Rider. Perhaps the fur ruff isn't unkempt enough, but he's lacking a bit of the 'wild and barbaric' look that I was hoping for.
So, how do I go about fixing that? Someone on the INQ28 boards mentioned replacing his pointing finger with a hand holding a severed head which sounds like a kickass idea
I was also thinking of clipping some of the little teeth charms off a Space Wolf torso and dotting them around, and maybe a topknot of some sort...
What do you think? Any other ideas?
