Currently been playing the PanO Military Orders sectorial, but our meta is saturated with human sphere players, mostly other PanO and Nomads, and I'm considering giving the Morats a shot because I rather like their aesthetics. How would you compare the play style/tactics of the Morat Agression Force to humans/Military Orders?

Gathering the Informations.

Morats are a sledgehammer army.

They come in and shoot/smack you in the face until you die.

They don't have much in the way of Specialists but damn if they're not straightforward.

More guns and gak kickers.

MO is a lot of extra burst rockets which is super rude in n3 and hurts when linked.

Morats have a lot of options though with specailists that double as actual good fighters as well.

Id say youd enjoy it. Entire shas line is getting resculpted later as well so vannilla might be looking super cool next year as well.

Getting a first game with the Morats in today at 177pts, consisting of the starter plus Anyat from Dire Foes. Will see how they fare.

Curious about them as well, been looking at them since the Raicho dropped, and every resculpt has made them more and more attractive for me. The new Onyx Sectorial thats being worked on for CA has me considering starting Combined in general as well.

They are like MO, a steamroller of brute force! But you don't have the OS clutch. But you get a TAG that is cheap and doesn't suck! But you don't get the Specialized HI. But you get Daturazi! But you don't have Joanne's Inspiring Leadership. But you have Kornak's Strategos! But you don't get Konstantinos' amazing pool of usefulness. But you get Anyat's! But the Frogurt is also cursed!

Is it weird that I dont use any of the named characters outside of the Merc ones?

Nah, obvious Lts (Sallie, Joan, Wally, Sussy, Kornie) are a risk some people don't want to take (for a good reason), and some others are meh (Pat), and even the good ones don't add that much, and finally, there is something romantic about the unnamed character over the popular hero.

Unless you play JSA or ASS, then you are just nerfing yourself for no good reason.

Okay, then its not just me lol. Although, I don't see the detriment of the obvious LTs in N3 anymore (unlike N2). I mean, as I understand it (only have 3 or 4 games total under my belt) the existence of the Lieutenant Order makes it kind of obvious who your LT is... or are you not supposed to use that order until you absolutely have to so that your opponent doesn't find out who your LT is?

It depends who's the Lt. If it's some LI mook watching the board edge it's not going to be worth revealing. Hacker Lt? Almost always worth the risk since it's throwing up a "free" Support program every turn. It's also tied into the skill of the player, someone who deploys and maneuvers well is going to make it expensive order wise and/or risky to assassinate an obvious Lt. so there's less danger to using the Lt. order.

In armies with built in CoC mechanics like Morats and Combined, you're wasting pts paid for Veteran L1/G:Mnemonica by not using the Lt. order. In some cases it's actually beneficial to lose the original Lt., WIP16 Lt. Dr. Worm gets work done.
