Im not going to go into the rest of my army yet but i wanna see how this works out and figure out how some rules work.
Im new to 7th edition so any guidance could be good.
So here is the strat.
1 ork horde detachment, 2 combined arms detachments. this makes a grand total of 9 fast attack slots correct?
1 will be taken up by a blitza bomba but the other 8 would be 8 units of 1 Deffkopta per unit.
in my head this would allow me this:
1. easy mobility/objective capturing,
2. able to target something specific and use just enough rokkits to kill it because they are separate squads.
3. Basically ignore their poor morale, 2 wound is a dead kopta means 1 less squad, no morale comes into play, cuz when 1 dies the squad dies, instead of ahving like 2 or 3 koptas runn off the table.
4. Make them less likely to be chosen as targets as the absolute max a full squad could kill is 1 Deffkopta (waste of firepower) plus jink.
5. pick on smaller squads if i want by first shooting with say 5 koptas then charging with 5 koptas. Over watch only able to kill 1 maximum. (i know wounds still spread in combat)
6. if they are targeted it is like they are drawing fire from something more killy. which is good right?
7. perhaps soak up a squads overwatch for a the squad actually meant to get into combat.

Concerns
is each squad going to be worth 1 victory point if destroyed?
if i charge in first with a kopta and then charge with say a boys squad, can they overwatch at all cuz they are already in b2b?

In a game with victory points for kills and first blood you are going to be murdered. Even if you reserve and outflank.

Ran something like that in a tournament list. Was unlucky enough to get kill points twice. Despite nearly tabeling my opponents both games, ended up losing by like 8 or 10 points each time. Also in malestrom games when your opponent pulls the " kill multiple units for multiple points" its hard to recover being like 6 points down.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And I tried to combine squads for the killpoint games, was told I had to play as written out, which thinking back is the fairest.

So all your points are correct, with regards to overwatch, a unit can only overwatch once per turn, so by attempting to charge if he elects to overwatch (why wouldn't he, as if he doesn't and you make the charge then hes B2B and can't overwatch) then he uses that overwatch up on your 30 point model.

Killpoints would be a sucky mission to get, but not impossible, as ignoring your army to get the "free" points would potentially leave him open to the rest of your force, however like Orock said, its still going to be a significant disadvantage.

Personally, I bring 2-3 solo koptas. That generally gives you enough ability to get to the objectives you either need/want to contest. Plus it also doesn't give away too many free points. I generally outflank, as it means the turn you arrive you can be backfield their side for any hard to reach objectives. Yes you can reach them by flatout but you leave your model open to First Blood and generally just getting destroyed.

Another use;
Charge blocking. In my game Friday I had a Swarmlord who was eying up a squadron of vehicles I had and potentially was going to make the charge. So I moved a kopta in front of him forcing him to either go around (which meant there really wasn't any chance in hell of getting off the charge - didn't bother checking the range in the end). Or he could assault my kopta and leave himself open to another round of shooting.

They were very effective imo. I paid 70 points for em, they scored 2 VP's, killed the last zoanthrope and generally made nuisances of themselves. they survived all game too, as with a Big MC list he really didn't have time to waste killing 30 point models.

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.
