Tail-spinning Tomb Blade Pilot
|
Hi, lots of feedback and criticism please. Below is a set of proposals for formations, primarily looking at updating IA12 and allowing a standard necron decurion to take forgeworld units which currently have to be bought as part of a CAD. I have tried to incorporate some of the old feel of the formations with the new Decurion standard whilst balancing off what I think is a sensible tax for the formation rules. I have also added a new way for necrons to get a D weapon, as well as added the infinite phalanx to the decurion. Part 2 has a new Maynarkh decurion with different requirements to reflect the fluff.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
1) Additional Decurion Formations
Irregular Decurion Formations
Each of these formations may be taken as Decurion auxiliary formations or as stand alone formations as part of a battle-forged army. When taken as part of a Decurion, you may choose up to five irregular formations per Reclamation Legion in your Decurion Detachment. The total number of auxiliary or irregular auxiliary formations must be 1-10 per Reclamation Legion.
Infinite Phalanx
Composure: 10-25 units of warriors, 1 Overlord
Restrictions: no dedicated transports may be taken as part of this formation.
Special Rules:
Relentless, Move Through Cover, Reanimation Protocol Matrix, Legion of Fear.
Reanimation Protocol Matrix: when at least 150 warriors are within 1 inch coherency, the reanimation protocol roll is improved to a 4+. When taken as part of a Decurion, this roll is improved to a 3+ with the Everliving rule. Improved Reanimation Protocols do not stack with any other bonus from attached crypteks or special characters.
Legion of Fear: when all models within this formation, which is at least 100 warriors, are 1 inch coherency, each unit has the Fear and Fearless USR. Enemy units within 12 inches lose the following USR: Stubborn, For each additional 25 warriors in one inch coherency, enemy units within 12 inches of a unit from this formation suffer a -1 to their leadership score.
Deathbringer Armada
Composure: 0 – 4 Doomscythes, 2 – 4 Night Shroud Bombers
Amalgamated Targeting Data, Wailing Cacophony (C:N)
Canoptek Pylon Network
Composure: 1 unit of spyders, 1-3 units of Sentry Pylons, 2 units of canoptek scarabs.
Restrictions: Only one spyder model may be taken in the unit of spyders. Each unit of canoptek scarabs must start with at least as many bases as there are Sentry Pylon models in this formation.
Special Rules:
Adaptive Subroutines, Defensive Targeting Protocols
Adaptive Subroutines: At the start of the player's turn, the spyder can give itself and units in this formation with 12 inches the following special rules: Reanimation Protocols, Shred or Relentless.
Defensive Targeting Protocols: All Sentry Pylon models within 6 inches of the spyder from this formation shoot at +1 BS.
Tomb Guardians
Composure: 1 – 2 Tomb Stalkers, 0 – 3 Tomb Sentinels
Restrictions: Units from this formation are deployed as a special single unit rather than in the usual way. The unit has a unit coherency of four inches. No models may leave this special unit and no special characters may join.
Special rules: Shrouded, Tank Hunters
Chariot Phalanx
Composure: 2 – 10 Units of Warriors, 2 – 4 Tesseract Arks, 0 – 2 Doomsday Arks, 0 – 4 Annihilation Barges, 1 Catacomb Command Barge
Restrictions: Each Unit of Warriors must purchase a Ghost Ark as a Dedicated Transport and must start the game embarked upon it.

Deployment Network: Models from this formation that attempt to deep strike within 6 inches of the Gauss Pylon do not scatter.
Other Irregular Auxilliary Options for Decurion
1 Citadel
1 Unit of Acanthrites
2) Maynarkh Decurion
May take a Necron Maynarkh Decurion with the following rules:
Composition:
1+ Maynarkh Reclamation Legion (1 Overlord (or Destroyer Lord, Overlord Character, or Catacomb Command Barge), 2 – 8 Warriors, 0 – 4 Immortals, 2 – 6 Flayed Ones, 0 – 4 Tomb Blades, 1 – 4 Charnal Lychguard)
0 – 1 Maynarkh Royal Court (1 Overlord (or Overlord character) or Destroyer Lord, 1 – 3 Crypteks (or Cryptek character), 1 – 3 Maynarkh Lords (or Obryon)) per Reclamation Legion
1 – 10 Auxiliary or Irregular Auxiliary formations for each Reclamation Legion.
Special Rules: Everliving (C:N)
Characters: Kutlakh the World Killer may be taken in place of any Overlord in the Decurion, where he is taken he must be the army's Warlord if the Decurion is the Primary Detachment. Toholk the Blinded may be taken in place of any Cyptek. A Maynarkh Decurion may never contain Imotekh the Stormlord.
Units: where a Maynarkh or Charnal version of the unit is available, that must be used instead (Need some help with points here)
Disallowed Wargear: Labyrinth, Sempiternal Weave.
Principles: new codex rules and points replace IA12 rules and points.
(Also need help with the various scarabs and wargear points)
To come (suggestions welcome): Monolith Phalanx, Doomsday Monolith formations
