When you boil it down, a IK with no guns and only 1 Chainsword should be 315pts. Add a TS gauntlet for 10pts and it is a Gallant. Remove the Gauntlet and add a Thermal Cannon for 55pts and you got an Errant. Swap the Thermal cannon for an Avenger Cannon at the same cost of 55pt and you have a Warden. Replace the Avenger Cannon with a 60pt Rapid Battle Cannon and you have a Paladin. Keep the Battle cannon and replace the chainsword for an Avenger cannon for 50pts you now have a Crusader.

Its just the same darn Model with different guns! Seriously! The Gallant should have had a special rule for reroll charge or Giant Jump Packs and an 5++ invul in close combat only and option to improve Initiative to 5. The Errant should have option for 2 Thermal Cannons and a special rule if it fires both at same target it gets treated as 1 large blast that ignores cover. The Warden should have had option to carry 2 Avenger gatling cannons and if it fired both at 1 target then it gets to ignore jink and make snap fires at BS 2 at flyers. The Paladin should have option for expensive 2nd battle cannons and buying it would cost total of 440pts so the Crusader still looks attractive.

I dont like the carrapace weapons too much but that is where you can waste free points on in a war convocation bonus. Also the heirlooms.

A dead one... Knights are silly in 40k, but it seems the game is moving to apoc.

Honestly think the crusader is "best" but it depends on the role, for points and cc gallants are good but useless if not in cc. Crusaders are great big shooty things that are still decent in cc. They just eat points!

If only you could take FW knights in the formation...

Currently, the "best" IK is the Warden, due to how the high rate of fire of its Gatling Cannon synergizes with the way the rules in 7th favor high throughput weapons. It's also 375pts base, and has three slots that can be upgraded, the carapace, the melee arm, and the stubber.

I think the crusader is the best addition to war convo.

Runnin up on ya.

The one that I've gotten the most mileage out of is the Castigator, the master of crowd control.

I haven't had much luck with the Acheron because people are so afraid of it that they focus it down before it can do much. The Maegara can be a tough nut to crack and the Lancer is my go-to hard charger.

I hope FW adds the carapace weapons to their kits.

Edit:
Big, stompy robots are kind of an addiction with me which is why I have all of them except the 30k and chaos variants.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

They're all good and have their uses, it just depends on what area you need more help in. Need some high str for instant death? Take a rapid fire battle cannon. Play against SPEES MUHREENS, take the avenger gatling gun. Want to shoot a lot? Why not both.
