It states nothing against dreadnoughts (or vehicles) in the 7th edition Rulebook as restrictions against scoring objectives.

Certainly, troops will Obj.Sec. them from those without this special rule, but nothing is stayed against vehicles (or dreadnoughts) from capturing non-contested objectives.

Yet ( see everywhere that it's not what's seen as true.... what am I missing?

In 7th ed, any unit can be a scoring unit. Only units falling back, some flyers, unclaimed fortifications and any unit that specifically says it never counts as a scoring unit cannot control objectives. See p134, "Preparing for Battle", "Scoring Units".

Or,

My droppod that carries my wolf guard (elite) with the Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre upgrade (20pts - doesn't scatter when deepstriking)?

That is potent.

So long as he has nothing to either contest those objectives or a unit with Objective Secured to otherwise claim the objective regardless of your non-Objective Secured units contesting them.

A dreadnought can score...if its game is good enough.

"Here lies Bjorn, he never scored"

Seriously though, it seems like the current version of the game did away with the old scoring restrictions. I can't fully appreciate the difference having never played before 7E but it sounds like a big difference.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.
