In general, is it worth taking full sized Tactical or Crusader squads for a drop pod army or go MSU?

I think it depends on how you are using them.
As for Tac Squads I tend to go with a 10 model Squad with a Plasma Gun and Heavy Bolter, but I tend to use Crimson Fist when I am Podding Codex: Marines.

I am a Furry that plays with little Toy Soldiers; if you are taking me too seriously I am not the only one with Issues.

I play Salamanders and always go ten for tac squads.

It depends if the drop pods are free or not. Drop pods in and of themselves are only transportation, so if you're spending on your points on pods and not bodies you're basically playing a bunch of points short. If the drop pods are free, though, then why not? Get all the free points you can.

Eh, when you land on objectives or linebreaking, a 35 point av12 3hp thing can be pretty worthwhile to take multiples of, even if not free. I've won games solely off of pods holding/denying objectives. (And occasionally I'll actually storm bolter down something relevant!)

You could always take 10 man squads and combat squad if needed. This helped mitigate the problem of giving up kill points if running pure MSU.
