Hey,
Was thinking of converting the cerastus knight with normal knight weaponry, thoughts?

It's pretty easy, actually. Just envolves cutting and lengthening the legs. You want two of the current Knight kit, for the Gauntlet and doubles of the Reaper Chainsword and Gatling Cannon so you can built the Acheron and Castigator. The Battlecannon makes a great base for conversion to a Lance, while the Thermal Cannon converts to the Acheron's flamer.

I'm not sure why you'd bother as the Cerastus double bolt cannon and sword are easily the best looking FW knight.

I can only assume you've got multiple FW knights and want to maintain a theme while using a Crusader or Paladin?

If you do, then there might be some confusion over which ones can move fast and gets extra attacks and such, but since they're larger, there shouldn't be too many issues I would think.

Well, I guess you can use a standard Questus endo-frame with the Cerestus plates. That might solve your problem.

Thanks for replies.
I'm basically thinking I prefer the look of cerastus bodies but want to be able to play any type of knight. So magnets on weapons and be able to use all patterns. This may be completely impossible but no harm in dreaming haha.

You'll find that the cylindrical bit of the shoulder section of the arms is slightly smaller on the FW knights but essentially the method of attaching the arms is the same, just without locator lugs.
When fitting a GW arm to a FW knight, the shoulder section of the arms may need it's diameter reduced a tiny bit.
I found the snugness useful in choosing a final position for the arm - i used a GW shoulder piece as the starting point for a custom shield arm for ny knight lancer and it went on okay.

The one problem i have with magnets is their magnetic flux lines are susceptible to shear - so if you drilled into the hull perpendicular to it (90 degrees from parralel) they will be drooping down all the time as the wieght of the arm would rotate it, initiating shear - the arm would be stuck to the hull real nice but would never stay in the position you really want.

Consider using pins to do the same job - it'll be tricky getting the correlating holes in your arm variants' position 'spot on', but at least it garuantees the arm holds position.

Luckily you chose the hull which is more sympathetic to fitting the pauldrons first and fitting the arms afterwards - with the GW knight you cannot remove the arms when the pauldrons have been glued in place unless you modify the shoulder end of the arm first.

I use steal pins on one piece and a magnet on the other, which creates a stronger hold due to how magnets realign ferrous material, and prevents shearing. Works great on smaller pieces like magnetizing weapon swaps on Grey Knight Terminators, and works spectacularly on Imperial Knight arm joints and carapace mount.
