ClearHorizon Miniatures releases the Apocalypse-Class Superheavy Tank
$34.99
Available now at: www.cleahorizonminiatures.com
The Apocalypse-class superheavy tank is designed as a deep-space all-in-one peacekeeping solution.
The turret contains two high-wattage plasma cannons, auxiliary mini-gun, four AA/ AT missile pods and a
multi-spectral RADAR/LADAR sensor package.
The tank can use its four independently powered drive/track modules to raise or lower itself giving it
a wide variety of capabilities. Its troop compartment can carry up to eight fully armed and armored
combat troops or six power-armored troops.
Here is a comparison picture:
And a picture of the tank in the raised position:
This is a 15mm scale multi-part resin kit.
The Apocalypse tank was sculpted Steve “Coolhand” Tyler.

That is a cool and well thought out design for a sci-fi tank. Better than 95% of the offerings out there.
I too would like to see it scaled up to 28mm, with a bit finer detail.

Thank you!
It would be quite a beast in 28mm, almost the size of the baneblade!
I'd probably have to do a kickstarter to fund something like that, but it is still available in 15mm
10OFF will also give you a 10% discount on checkout

Very nice, but from a hard sci fi view, why the heck would you add more moving parts that serve only to raise the profile? Seems like two fixed height treads would be far more utilitarian and such a feature was determined by marketing or committee. Still, from a miniature perspective, it is a great piece! And goes well with CHMs other great 15mm stuff.

I'd imagine it's because a number of Anime tanks have similar mechanisms
mostly for looks (which seem to be originally based on 'ball' rather than tracked vehicals),
but occasionally explained as a way to give a totally concealed 'hull down' which the tanks can pop up from to shoot from ambush

Looks very nice!
Makes me think of the bad-ass tanks in Venus Wars.

I guess it would be easier to use hull down positions, particularly in zones where regular tanks would not be able to use it? It probably would be able to get better traction in very irregular terrain...
Other than that, I got nothing other than rule of cool.

I thought of the raising ability as part of the "sentinel" mode whereas these tanks could be used at forward outposts as static base defenses or in urban combat to rise over rubble to a great field of fire.
It also allows it to transverse very difficult terrain.
And I think it looks cool and is a unique capability of the model
