The base rules might be brief but the war scrolls are long and I find it nearly impossible to remember all the buffs/special rules going on.

Flipping pages in books and PDFs is too much of a chore for me.

I need cards on the table so I can always have an eye on my guys' abilities while I'm playing.

Now make them.

Thanks.

Best thing to do is take the warscrolls shrink the down to fit 4 to a page and print them off. They will become warmahorde sized and easily fit in card sleeves

Is there anything you can do other than shrink them? They way they are laid out doesn't seem to lend itself to cards, unless they were big wide things rather than the more traditional card size and shape.

Perhaps you would be better rewriting them in a different format. Remove the description part, maybe cut the circle off the weapon profiles and display one under the other.

For example:

___________________________
_______Stat line here__________|
_______Keywords next_________|
.........---.........<- the circle stats...................... |
...../ ........ \ .... replace the whole magic paragraph ..|
.... \ ..__../..... with just the relevant number here ....|
................................................................|
Unit specific abilities crammed in ...|
..........................here.............................|
................................................................|

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Yeah, I plan on making my own cards, with rules and weapon options that don't affect me removed.

I would love to have official warscroll cards, but they would need a different layout.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I have already done so. They're awesome. I'll post a pic or two when I get home later. For what are, I hope, pretty obvious reasons, I can't sell them.

They fit well on smaller cards. Making your own would be an option but I imagine anything like that some opponents may be wary of and want to see original warscrolls to know they're not being cheated

Well, I don't think cheating would be an issue as you'd have the real war scrolls printed out and in a binder or something. This is just to help you remember things during combat. This is what mine look like. Weapons and basic rules are on the back. Using front and back gives me a little more real estate on which to design.

I'm doing these for personal use, but yeah... it costs about $20 to have a deck of ~54 cards made.

Im guessing your doing something a little more than just using your printer if its costing $20...?

Wow that looks great!

I was thinking the same thing... skirmish games like wwx work great with game sized cards for easy reference. Unit pic and base stats and attacks/weapons on front, unit rules on back... would be great!

Someone make these and take our money! GW, that goes for you too!

If you have access to a color laser, just print it on card stock. Or print it on paper and laminate it.

But yeah, I'm surprised there are not datacards sold.

I'm using one of many, many companies out there that will make custom playing cards for you if you provide image files in very specific sizes and resolutions. Think along the lines of custom playing cards for business events or weddings. I'm just planning on customized the front AND back. That costs a little more money, but is super cheap in comparison to most things in this hobby.

The plan is to do Khorne Bloodbound and High Elves first, since those are the armies I have. I might end up doing more.

Those cards are beautiful, Kriswall. Well done!

I too am soon about to make cards for all AoS armies. But mine will (naturally) feature the PPC cost for the unit as well. That info might be redundant for those who do not use the PPC, but that text could just be ignored of course.

If you want to check out the prototype cards for the Stormcast from the starter set, they can be found here.

I have played with them a few games nov, and it sure helps alot!

Cheers!

Those look pretty nice. Only question is how big are they? They look kinda tiny but with nothing for reference I could be very wrong.

Thanks - they are the same size as regular gameplay cards such as Magic the Gathering. They are placed in 66x91mm sleeves in the picture.

....not quite

In case you were serious with the question, it's one of the (many) homebrewed comp packs for Age of Sigmar. It's Dakka thread can be found here.

I decided to up the size on the cards a bit to be able to add more information. I'm still toying around with the layout. I'd be really happy to get some feedback.

I broke the units apart based on how you can equip them and only listed the relevant rules based on their equipment. For things like special weapons that are 1 in 5 or whatever, I'll just have a separate, smaller card you can sit next to the big card. I just haven't made the smaller cards yet. I also decided not to put the pictures on the card as it's way too annoying trying to find consistently sized images of the different models.

And I haven't proofed at all yet. I fully realize that the numbers and spellings may be off on things. This is all about layout right now.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And the cards end up as 3.5" tall by 5.75" wide.

RE the buff thing.. I was going to make some counters and maybe even sell tham as a set on line.. not to "make money" but as a service... the counters would day things like "re rolls xyz" and I have no idea how many different counters would be needed but my gut is about 25 or 30..

Basically every buff eventuality has a 2cm x 2cm counter you can place next to the unit with the buff

The cards are cool id likely stick with the regular playing sized cards in sleeves though as its more convenient for me but I imagine a few folks would like something like this

I like the layout quite a bit. The background is a bit busy though. Makes it hard to read the important stuff.

@ConanMan, Litko has a set of tokens for AOS already available, check em out.

There are large sleeves you can purchase. Forget what the ones I used for the wfb magic cards were called... but they exist.

Yeah, I'm thinking the background is too busy also. Back to the drawing board.

Perhaps you could reduce the opacity?

It'd be really nice if one of the mobile apps out there for forming armies (probably mostly used for 40K now) would include the AoS rules and the Warscrolls. It's not like they are giving away anything for free by doing so.

Just build your army, then tap a view icon to see all the rules for AoS and specific to your units.

The GW AOS app actually works pretty much exactly as you describe. I have been finding it quite useful in my weekly games.

I like those cards a lot. If you could find a way to sneak a pic of the unit o to the cards you would have it perfect!
