Krieg! What a hole...

'Cuz God forbids people who play factions that aren't SM's want to talk about their HQ's as well, right?

Personally, I don't have much as what goes to who and overequipping either a Krieg Colonel or a Tempestor Prime isn't really worth the point.

I, however compensate by kitting their squads out.

For example, my Krieg Colonel (henceforth known as #5601) is packing a swanky laspistol and a perfectly serviceable Officer Saber, as well as packing a Melta bomb, oh and of course, a pretty sweet looking Carapace armor (but its standard issue for him) and finally a set of both frags and kraks grenades.

#5601 is, however, flanked by 2 vets with lasguns, a team of vets packing an autocannon, a hilariously innacurate ''master'' of ordnance, and 2 bodyguards. Everyone's packing lasguns/pistols/ccw/frags&kraks/carapace armor, except for the heavy weapon team, of course.

The more fighty HQ is Aarin Jagunjagun, a General Commissar from a far away planet, he's got carapace armor, a force field, a plasma pistol, a sabre, the usual meltabomb/frag/krak kit.

Now for the Scions

Riley Bakersfield gear is suprinsgly similar to #5601, except he's packing a hellpistol and no melta bombs.

His command squad, however, provides long(ish) support fire in the form of 4 hotshot volley-rifles.

That's about it, showed you mine, show me yours

As with all officers in the Praetorian Guard from top to bottom:

Plasma Pistol, Power Sword and Grenades..

This makes my officers almost as expensive as a squad of 10 men but they certainly look cool.

'Major Weiss' of the Nova Vostra 4th Armoured charges into battle at the head of his Leman Russ Squadron, each one named after renowned Nova Vostran saints. As tempestuous and daring as any Tank Commander, he has little patience for the failures of the common infantryman to 'keep up' with his glorious steeds. In truly dire times he has been known to personally command the venerable 'Old Man', a Leman Russ Executioner older than the regiment by many years. It requires the constant attention of the tech-priests, even in the heat of battle, to assuage it's cantankerous machine spirit and direct its fury at the enemy rather than the crew.

Lieutenant Carson commands the remaining men of the 422nd Marcossan Infantry, Bravo Company. An earnest young man with much to prove; he at least has the wisdom to listen to the suggestions of his wizened NCOs. He has yet to earn the trust of the common lowborn trooper, most of whom still view him as a blueblood 'Spireborn' noble from their homeworld.
Being a regiment with a high attrition rate, his squad outfit changes frequently.

Knight-Errant 'Antoine' of the Azure Knights Chapter falls from the heavens in a Drop Pod, the blazing trail and scream of its retro-thrusters a challenge to any foe with ear or eyeshot. Accompanied by his fellow Knights and their Companions-at-Arms, he seeks out the strongest and most terrible of the enemy, be it a terrifying monstrous creature or might warlord. The greater the foe, the greater the Glory.

Is this thread for Xeno commanders as well?

Assuming so, for DE I have:

Silence - Archon w/ Huskblade, Shadowfield, Soul Trap, Parasite's Kiss:

Spoiler:

Badly overpriced, unfortunately, but there aren't any other DE HQs that fit the model.

There's also my Coven Haemonculus w/ Scissorhands and Sindriq's Sump (no pic available). Something of a general-purpose support HQ.

For Necrons

Destroyer Lord w/ Voidblade, Phylactery, Phase Shifter and sometimes Resurrection Orb (fits the model, but isn't very useful):

Spoiler:

I need a name for this guy.

Sensing some angst in ^ general vicinity.

Moving on.

My main commander I've been running the last few years has been an Imperial Guard Company Command Squad, lead by Lord Marshal Graf Harazahn. Lord Marshal Harazahn leads my Vostroyan Firstborn Vth Armored Division "The Victors", which is comprised of the 66th Firstborn Armored Infantry Battalion, the 714th Firstborn Tank Battalion, and 493rd Firstborn Armored Field Artillery Battalion.

My secondary Commander is Lord Commissar Kernov, a Vostroyan Native who has gone through the rigors of the Departmento Munitorum's Commissariat as a young man and who returned to fight along side his brethren after attaining the rank of Lord Commissar.

Lastly, I have Captain Maxim, Tank Commander of the Leman Russ Vanquisher "Havoc" and senior Officer of the 714th Vostroyan Firstborn Tank Battalion.

That's my contribution. Take it easy for now.

Vanished Completely

My ideal commanders, for Tau, where very simple:
Bait.

So many people assume that all the goodies are going to be found on the Commander, but other Crisis Suits do have permission to carry Signature Systems as well. You would nominate one of these suits as 'comms guy,' using the three signature systems designed to buff the Unit as a whole, and stick him at the back. The Commander would then go to the front, out-fitted to tank, in order to protect the entire Unit from the amount of shots that will be directed towards any Unit containing those three signature systems. If you want to go for a full 'no eggs in a single basket' approach, the Body-Guard team would allow the systems to be broken up even further so you can have someone other then the Commander being the tank.

I could never accept that wasting BS5, by ensuring your Commander can not shoot, was a good option when Crisis Suits tend to be the most joined Unit....

The tactic would then depend entirely on how close of attention your opponent is paying to the list and to your actions. If the opponent fails to notice that the commander is still shooting, the second stage of the plan involves the Commander leaving the Crisis Suit Unit. I did get a good little giggle when the weight of fire would follow the Bait-Commander away from the buffed up Unit and onto a more 'throw away' unit that would then be meat-shields to simply prolong the misdirection. Should the Commander die during all this, without the actions being noticed, then it is possible the buffed Unit will get a turn or two more before the opponent questions why they are still getting buffs. Of course, once your opponent is wise to this deception they tend to pay a little more closer attention and it often fails from that point forward.

Well I prefer my stompy melee HQs to have an invuln save and eternal warrior but I play Orks so apparently we can't have that Besides that its simply a Mega Armored Warboss with a Lucky Stikk and Cybork. Closest thing to an invuln save my Warboss has is his 2+ LoS to grab a boy and throw it in front of the incoming AP2 attack.

For my Tau I prefer to run an Ethereal with a homing beacon. Dirt cheap and the beacon lets you drop in crisis suit support to screen or provide fire support for the Ethereal. Put the Ethereal in a Devilfish with a D pod and let

For my GK/Inq force I greatly enjoy using my Xenos Inquisitor that is a Psyker in power armor with Rad and Psychotroke grenades, plasma siphon, force sword, needle pistol, and 3x servo skulls. Put my Inq in my Land Raider with 4 Paladins to have Pseudo T4, FNP, and usually Hammerhand.

Even though it's a popular build for a Tau commander I really like using the Mark'O with Missile Pods, Target Lock, and Drone Controller and the Talisman of Arthas Moloch.

He gets to utilize his BS5 and he gets to help out the rest of the army and that is pretty invaluable.

He's always done well for me with the exception of Drop Pod spam but I usually have Early Warning on other units to help mitigate the pain.

Overall just a solid character. I like em enough to take two.

I'm also tooling around with my GK Brother-Captain/Grand Master.
I've only played this build once in a hero hammer but I ran him with the Soul-Glaive and Psilencer and found that to be a joy. Bonus points if I get misfortune as one of his psychic abilities.

It's okay. I primarily take it for Fearless, as my Autarch usually joins a large squad of Shining Spears and I don't want them to run away. In combat it's mostly good for killing scrub characters, since it seems like all of the powerful characters have Eternal Warrior.

The laser lance is a much more cost-efficient choice, but, again, Fearless alone is worth the price tag.
