I was really lacking direction with my BA. I recently started working on them again, they have sat for almost a year. I was reading some fluff thinking about a cool banner to use for a new T-shirt, and I saw the Banner and thought "that's it! I can build Donatos Aphael (I like that there is no specific model). So here is the humble beginning:

A great kit bash there. What's your plan for the paint scheme?

I am going to go for a Second Company look according to the codex. In 7th we can add artificer armor and relics of baal. So the Stat line is good and cheap. I will follow this for the most part:

I think I will probably go with some shoulders by hand with the wing and Cup from the Second's Banner. I will kitbash some more and get his Command Squad up and rolling (might be able to make it work with what I have. If not I will grab a command squad kit.

For Donatos Aphael, I will do his armor like my other marines. I base in a mix of 2x Mephiston Red, 1 part Mournfang Brown, 1 part Khorne red. Then a coat of Mephiston Red, and then another highlight of Evil Sunz Scarlett. I have a wash that I do made from Agrax Earthshade, Carrobourg Crimson and Druchii Violet. I will post soon.
I think I will stick to the yellow drip on black for the kness etc.

I am excited. I have the inspiration I needed t revitalize the hobby! More to come. might be slow though... ;-)

Good luck with this, I am finding my own BA hard going so any additional inspiration would be great.

So I have finished up my first meltacide squad. Aphael has received his first coat and is washed... Got onto these:











This one I did in honor of my brother in Law who died a few weeks ago his Latin name works as "Marcus Fortis" and he looked kind of like a BA actually. Always smiling though.



And the Sergeant, needs MB's and I put his weapon in a sheath.

No need to be shy about posting your minis up here. Any standard of painted miniature is better than facing the grey hordes and these look great. People in the painting blogs are usually only going to offer support, constructive criticism and cool ideas.

Your kitbashing and bases are excellent, I had never even considered putting a combination melta on the Sgt. Your armour and the shading of it is very evocative of 40k as a whole. I eagerly await whatever is next.

Lovely tribute to your brother in law as well. Hope to see more from you soon, subbed.
