Does anyone remember the old rules that they published in WD during 3rd for designing your own vehicle? I'd love to find those for fun if anyone has them. I wonder why they don't do stuff like that anymore.

They were reprinted in the 1st Chapter Approved compilation. I’d have to dredge the shelf to find the original WD they were published in.

While the VDR, and a bunch of other things in 3rd, gave us a ton of options, they made the game very complicated and were prone to abuse. I’d not mind seeing them return, but they would have to have “unofficial” and “experimental” stamped all over them. If not what we have now would look balanced in comparison to some of the crazy stuff that would hit the table.

All they really need to be is something that turns out a point value say 10% - 20% higher than the normal rules, the cost of being a non-standard design.

So easier to use in a campaign setting or a themed list than abused for cheese.

Was a fun little addition, grew up with 1st edition that had this sort of stuff in the main rulebook.

There was a guy here who made an updated version of this, and similar stuff for Super Heavies and Monstrous Creatures.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.

Number 2: That's terror.
