How do I counter this with Marines?

Warlock on bike

2 vypers with shuriken cannons

3 squads of 5 scatbikes

Wraithknight with heavy cannons and 2 scat lasers.

This is stupid fast and I find all I do is react.

You may get better help asking in tactics, in here you will mainly get eldar players looking at this thinking it is someone asking to make an eldar list better.

grav guns and cannons.

You're in the wrong place but... Grav Cents in a pod would crush that knight turn 1, and then anything from missiles to grav-bikes or drop pods of marines with plasma will take out everything else. Drop pod lists are great for taking an aggressive stance on lists like this that can zoom everywhere.

if you wanna deal with cheese, play cheese. Put tigurius in a pod with grav centurions. Roll for rerolls/invisibility. odds are you will get it, and the WK issue is done. Now you have a very hard to kill deathstar. throw in some thunderfire cannons, and maybe 2 pods with troops. and whatever else you can fit.

I'd say find better players, but I say like last poster: go cheese! Find the most boring and cheeziest setup, and rub his face in it.

Who the heck plays these kind of lists in 1000 pt games? Just beat them to a pulp with their own Knight, then go find yourself some decent dudes to play.

I really didn't want to take any grav stuff into 1000 points but like you said, fight cheese with cheese...

Don't feel bad. By beating his cheese filled list, you will have humbled you opponent to become "fluffy"

Ya dude never feel bad about bringing cheese to a cheesefest. Then enjoy his whine with your wine, after you crush him with better tactics and a counter list. He's actually a moron taking those extra scat-lasers on the knight is horribly wasteful. In 1000 pt games those pts can be used much better since he can only fire 2 weapons with his WK.

It's debated a bit whether you can shoot 2 or all weapons with a GC. This is because it says they are MCs (can only shoot 2 weapons) with the following rules exceptions, then goes on to say "may fire each of its weapons at a different target", some believe this gives permission to fire all guns, others don't. Anyway this isn't YMDC so don't debate this here, just giving the info so you don't think he's been cheating you.

Ya I rule the 2 weapon thing since WK is OP as hell already, and it's the only really common Monstrous MC. Most tournies do as well.

tournaments (ITC) are ruling WraithKnight can fire all weapons, every other edition of 40k allowed Monstrous Creatures to do it.. tenuous tangental desperation *possibly* hints you can't (READ: no it doesn't) .. but people on dakka LOVE to troll the opposite information.. and tell people they can't.. here cometh the hate<-

It specifically says that they use the MC rules, IE, can fire two weapons. I just don't see the big deal. It's already the most overpowered unit in the game, why would ANYONE argue to make is stronger? Unless they're full of old cheddar and a complete asshat. Which your friend running a knight in 1000 pt games MOST CERTAINLY IS.

Cap,chap,6 tacs in free razors (give 1 or 2 pods,) 2 devs in free razors, 2 attack bikes, 3 sets of bolter scouts. Insist on playing an objective mission, try to go 2nd, and reserve everything so the game ends way before he can kill you. When guys come in, go after the bikes.
