Hall of heroes was a great tournament format, play at events all year and get points to qualify for the main event. I know that GW has turned away from the whole tournement thing but maybe a outside TO or TOs could get something going, what does everyone think

Terrible idea. We need to get rid of those tfg waac eldar tourney competetive players. It's shameful to 40k and games workshop when people play both eldar and competetively dboy.

Doesn't ITC do this?

You don't have to play in the events...

Apparently you're new here? Any dboy thread is a bad thread. Even if it's somewhat relevant it's bad. It's him. Not the threads.

No I'm not, and this thread is fine so far. There's no need to immediately drag a thread down just because of the author.

HoH would be interesting and seeing the return of it, and other GW run tournaments, would certainly be a breath of fresh air.

Good job Dman, it is nice to see a non troll/Eldar are not OP thread from you. I hope we see more like this in the future

Free from GW's tyranny and the hobby is looking better for it

An big event with pure 40k rules ran by Gw would be horrid.
Just let wh be the way it is a casual game between two gents enjoying it. If you want fair competition world tour chess events are up and running anyhow but I bet you'd call black side op cause reasons.

I knew some of the events team that used to run the old Hall of Heroes Conflict tournies, and they all said afterwards that it was a helluva lot more trouble to run & keep organised than it was worth. Worst of all, it never even truly was a 'best of the best' showdown, as half the guys who'd qualify from the various regional events wouldn't be able to make the finals due to various issues. (distance to travail, time off work/family, funds, etc...)

Besides, the entire events department for GW was nothing more than a giant toilet for flushing away money.

This. Many people have difficulty showing up for one tournament, much less several in a row.

i think that we are lucky to have rules at all and that if GW had their way there wouldnt be editions of rules anymore, there would be models and fiction books/audio dramas. games workshop gave up caring about wether we get new rules of any kind months ago possibly even a year ago

You mean apart from all the AoS rules, the recent codexes, and the upcoming Tau codex right?

GW are definitely more for the money than the rules, however new rules sell new models or older ones that don't sell well any more. I am really hoping that the new Tau dex comes out in like 6 months just because everyone thinks it's going to "soon"
I usually agree on not flaming a thread just because of the creator but dman does very similar threads that always seem to come across the same way. Perhaps he has been wrongly attacked on his thoughts, or perhaps he gets a giggle from it. Either way I'd take a pause from posting new threads if I was in his shoes.

Erm... It's been confirmed. Octauber is coming!

I like the idea as long as it's a special set of events, and not actually all events that fall under it.

MtG had a horrible period of time when they first transferred to PWP, and decided that all events gave points, and FNM gave triple points... I think the were was a story of some pro player passing out on a train, trying to hit enough events just to stay competitive.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

But this thread has nothing to do with the other threads. I agree about the others, which were frankly a joke, but this one actually has room for discussion, and there's no point dragging down a perfectly good thread entirely based on just who wrote the first post when there's nothing wrong with said OP.

And Tau are coming in October, we've seen White Dwarf covers with the new models.
