We all know that is only matter of time when Imperium wont be able to keep Emperor alive in Golden Thorne.


They sacriface thousands daily just too keep his body alive and as long is body alive his will endures, but if you read the lore , its been said that this cant go forever and only Emperor sheer will keeps Chaos forces and allows warp travel.

What happens when he is gone for good?, Game over or perhaps he is reborn?

Chaos wins.

Terra would deny everything.

The navigators would have a hard time to navigate -> the empire would crumble.
A new Emperor incarnation would be born to unite the empire.

The Tyranids would no longer be attracted to terra.

Most Xenos have a VERY fun time as humanity becomes easy pickings for the most part.

Keep in mind that the Emperor is more or less a god already. The worship of uncounted trillions of humans will do that.

That being said, either he can truly ascend to his full power as the "Star Child," or daemons pour out of the Golden Throne and the Imperium falls.

I'd wager nobody really knows until it does happen. I guess we'll have to wait until the 42nd melenium.

The Astronomicon fails. Suddenly there is no beacon by which Navigators can set the course of the ships they are on. Astropathic communications over distances of more than a system fail as well.

Without this all communications, trade and military activity cease overnight. The Empire of Man becomes a vast collection of scattered systems, each fending for itself. The Old Night is restored.

Age of Draigo (tm)

He becomes the 5th chaos god an enters the stalemate as the IoM breaks apart due to communication and transport issues. Then the gate on terra opens and it's swarmed with daemons.

Age of the Emperor. 40k AOS

No problem; they can just use the spice melange to navigate.

The High Lords find a way to keep the Astronomicon running. The E reincarnates, starts a new crusade of rag-tag to take down the Imperium.

It'd be pretty ballin, actually.

Isn't he already dead? And the imperium is just covering it from public knowledge.

The high council probably feed those million psykers to the Astronomicon so that it keeps working, the "it is to keep the emperor alive" is mombo jombo

He's the Warp god of Order. We know he used to converse with the Chaos gods. He can't die. Its like wondering what happens when Khorne dies. No need. He's just so tied to his corporeal form as when this body falls, most likely the Astronomicon falls as the Warp Gate in the Imperial Palace falls to the daemons on the other end. But Titan's forces (as in GK) would retake the Palace, the Astronomicon could be restored, the Eastern Reaches all run off Ultramar's Secondus beacon for awhile, and the Emperor Reborn is suddenly back in play. IMHO, after 100 years of horrible retaking loses I think the Imperium nets a gain if the Emperor has to be reincarnated again... apparently he disagrees

Speaking with the chaos gods don't really make you a god. Every chaos marine that matters has spoken directly with the chaos ones more than once, even if he does not worships them.

Talos of the Night Lords when tempted by 3 of the 4 dark gods speaks directly to them and he denies to worship them. The emperor being a powerful being would probably had those same conversations with the gods as they attempted to turn him to their side.

talking to =/= conversing and ripping off in a deal where you got the better of them

First the still living primarchs (demonic or otherwise) return to the empire in a freakish wave and warfare and religion vs. science vs. politics implosion.

The demon primarchs literally raise hell and virtually tear the universe inside out.

Mankind rallies (of a kind). The primarchs and lords of terra find a somewhat shaky, but common ground and begin to work together to face off the real threat but it looks to be too late. Magnus uses his knowledge of paths already taken and bursts through the demonic portal for a second time with some of his brother primarchs. All hell breaks loose on Terra as the Emperor is ripped from the thrown and his husk tossed aside like a rag doll. The astronimicon fails stranding billions of Imperial ships and cutting of worlds in warp storms.

Eventually Primarchs rally and beat Magnus within an inch of his life and install him into the Golden Throne, re-igniting the astronicon with it's own infernal and unlimited psyic power source.

the Emperor is re-born in the warp and cuts off the demonic incursions from the source and continues the eternal struggle but from within the warp instead of on the outside.

the Imperium is left forever scarred and in fragments. There are mini kingdoms setup. Some hold true to the original Imperium of the 40K. Some of the returned primarchs try to enforce the Imperial Truth of the 30K. Some space marine legions are caught in between (if not totally destroyed by the fighting up to now).

the Imperium shrinks by 2/3 and many planets are cut off or destroyed by the war. The Orks, Tau, Necrons, and Tyranids fill the power vacuum.
