I like destroyers (and own quite a few), but I really dislike their aesthetic. The large jetbike part just never appealed to me.

Does anyone know any good conversions or alternate models for them?

Dunno if it would be viable as a whole unit, but I once did a Destroyer Lord's Destroyer body part as a floating throne.

You probably need to stick with something close to Destroyer dimensions (to avoid rules arguments), which unfortunately limits your modelling choices somewhat.

Something humanoid-robot-like, posed horizontally as if flying through the air, is the simplest option that springs to mind - unless you can find some flying/hovering chassis you like better than the GW ones.

Maybe try something with a standing necron on a lychguard shield - kind of like a dark eldar guy riding their flying hover board things.

Another option, although expensive, is use the old style necron destroyer (some call it the "lawn chair" destroyer) I personally like them, but to each their own.

(I used my old ones for tomblades, back when we did not have a tomeblade model).

You can find the old destroyers on ebay for about $10-20 each.

Yeah, a 'Silver Surfer' look could work, and be fairly easy to make the 'board' match Destroyer dimensions.

The old-school 'lawn chair' look could also work, but I can't think of any easy way to convert to achieve that (and personally wouldn't recommend those ancient lead models even if they were easy to find).

or why not a thick snake like tail from the tomb kings
with a destroyer body...
or do something similar outta green stuff but a more flight friendly version maybe a snake skeleton tail with the vents off the destroyer heck you can make a spider outta the left over hull
