Subject: Forgeworld Tyranid - worth adding?

Towering Hierophant Bio-Titan

Hi all.
My local group had decided to add FW units into regular games (just not experimental rules)
So, just wanted some thoughts if possible please.
Harridan - won't be playing him in any games except larger games.
But seems more than over costed for what you get.
Barbed hierodule - seems like a solid choice for anti-tank support.
Pick a tank and it will vanish in 12 S10 shots at 48" range.
No slouch in CC either and stomp helps out in a pinch.
Dimachaeron - (sp?) Seems like hit or miss.
If you can get it into cc it will rip through anything and everything and its fast enough to get there.
It is however not too resilient to shooting.
Stone crusher fex - these guys have my interest with wreckers.
They have lower attacks but can sweep.
ID on attacks, heavy hammer of wrath and reduce strength of incoming fire.
A pair could be worthwhile.
Just wanted everyone's thoughts on these guys.

Malanthropes are the best FW tyranid option imo.
The bigger options are all horribly overpriced when compared to newer additions to the game.
I'd wait for an update before using any of the big ones in a competitive scene.

Thanks Bill.
I am somewhat of a collector with my nids, so just having the models sat around is fine for me.
The only current FW models I don't yet own is the hierophant and wrecker fex's.
One of the games we have coming up is 2,000 points with a mandatory LOW choice to get people into it more.
So I'm between the barbed hierodule and a hierophant at the moment on that one.

Between the two I think the Hierophant is the better pick.
That said, personally I'd take a harridan over both of them. They can avoid most of the D weapon rubbish the other super heavies are throwing around, as well as other irritating stuff like grav weapons.

True actually.
From the local group I know 2 tau player, one taking a supremacy and one taking a tigershark (not the friendly drone carrier either)
And a few of the marine players are running warhounds with double D's.
There is an Eldar player but unsure, if I were to bet it would be a pulse revenant though.
However, lists are swappable throughout so nothing is fixed.
Hopefully someone has ran a few of these and has some ideas on best uses ect. As I've only run the harridan at this point.

Everything you want is on the first page of the Tyranid thread, individual unit breakdowns.

The Harridan is lovely. Both looks and rules. I've used mine to great effect before including shooting a tigershark out the sky. I would highly recommend one

It's the 'original' escalation Lord Of War option, and is probably the best - as noted, relatively few destroyer weapons can snap fire or otherwise engage a Hard To Hit target, and since you have to wound the **** thing to make it take a grounding test, you're not worried about snap fired small arms like a winged tyrant or harpy would be.
The guns are lethal - yes, they're "only" the same as on a barbed hierodule, but whilst the barbed hierodule feels too shooty for its durability, and the hierophant is so expensive it turns more into an assault machine, the harridan is a nice balance. Being essentially an 8-wound wraithknight, it can afford a turn of incoming fire if you want to glide so it can claim objectives, and if needs be it's not bad at smashing up fools in an assault because it can still stomp (wingflap?).
Plus, vector striking someone with a superheavy is just amusing, especially when it's something small and pathetic like a storm talon. "Out of the way, puny mortal. This is My airspace...."
The Hierophant is awesome but is best used with Incendiary Ichor as an assault monster which can also shoot. The thing's durability against any non-destroyer weapon is insane.
