I keep seeing threads pop-up all over the place for people's homemade games.

Do we need a special section of the Dakka Dakka community to house these efforts and to talk about Game Design?

Your thoughts?

Game design section sounds like a good call to me.

I would be highly interested in a game design sub-forum, not sure if there are enough of us for it though.

I fear that it will split views if we have another forum.

I think Game Design and Proposed Rules would make a fine Forum.

Game design yes, proposed would probably best served in the off topic of said game section.

Yeah, I'm not sure there would be enough people really interested on the boards. In the Games designer Threads, we only got a handful of different posters and they tended to be the same people, not even the ones who are posting rules here.

I think it would be a cool idea, but not sure what effort/resources would be required on the dakka side of things to make it happen. Low turnover would mean topics stay visible for longer, potentially gathering more views (in theory land).

What if the other rules design threads (40k and AoS) were rolled into it? That would make it more popular.

I hope it would not matter much but there is the temptation to take a core mechanic of an existing game and build on it from there.
It could devolve to a "proposed rule change" rather than thinking to make it sufficiently different to be new.
Heck, never mind making supplements to systems like Squat Codex for 40k 6th edition...
