Hi there, I'm thinking about picking up some Ad mech models to ally into my existing IOM forces (I have many Space Marines, IG, GK and Inq) mainly because I like the models and fancy something new to game with.

I was gonna start by getting some Kastelan Battle robots and running them as a Cohort Cybernetica as it seems cool and has a low model count.

Something like this:
Tech Priest Dominus Autocaduceus of Arkan Land 135
2 Kastelan Robots + Datasmith 2x Phosphor Blast, 2x TL Phosphor Blaster 320
2 Kastelan Robots + Datasmith 1x Phosphor Blast, 1x TL Phosphor Blaster 305

It makes a big expensive unit that's very hardy and I would use it to hold the centre of the table whilst my other forces move around it. Their weapons can split fire, have reasonable range and reduce enemy cover saves and make them easier to charge and the unit as a whole is pretty deadly in combat. Has anyone used this type of unit? If so how does it play?

Used it once. Necrons his wraiths behind vehicles then assaulted it turn two and there they stayed for the rest of the game.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Thanks for the feedback, I can see it being an issue being locked in combat.

I intend to use it with my knight and some assaulty blood angels so I'll have to keep some support near by to help bail it out of a locked up combat, can't have that many points not shooting. Perhaps a white scar libby for hit and run.

This is the thread I wanted to [re]start. I'm building my bots now. I think I can magnetize everything, but what's the best load out? Three full phosphor and one power fists?

The It Will Not Die relic is obvious, but I think the Cognis relic is also worth it, especially if you play with full BRB Invisibility or lots of flyers. Which models should get which relics?

How can the Cohort get Split Fire?

Are Conversion fields necessary or only leftover points fillers?

Okay I've used this thing and I love it. It's not the craziest deathstar in the game, but it definitely gets work done. I just ran it this weekend in fact, and it did very well for me.

I run the loadout as all Phosphor all the time. I only run 4 bots, and I used the IWND relic. I move it to the center of the board and I take my pick on what to shoot.

It gains split fire by the special rules of the formation. You can sacrifice the shooting of a datasmith or dominus to grant one robot split fire. It's really handy and I abuse it.

I run the IWND relic on the Dominus and I make him my warlord, because it's arguably the safest place for a warlord.

Now, it's definitely no slouch in CC, even with all the shooty options. The smiths have powerfists and the bots are S6 AP2 in combat which is nice. The smiths are there to eat challenges for your Dominus.

If something looks like it will charge you, charge it instead. Luminagen helps with that! Wraiths do seem like they would give this unit a problem though.

The biggest weakness I've seen is psychic stuff, especially psychic shriek.

I hope I answered all of your questions, despite this being very scatter brained. This is a formation I always try to bring when I play cult. It's so much fun.
