So, I realy like walkers, And I'm trying to think of ideas of what to do with my orks, So I started thinking, what if you could make a walker heavy army? Killa Kanz, Deff Dreads and Orkanauts? Can you make a army focused arround ork walkers without using forge world?
Yes. There's a pair of formations in two different books that are made up of walkers(or mostly walkers).
In the Waagh! Ghazghkull supplement:
Dread Mob
1 Big Mek
1 Painboy
2 Gorkanauts or Morkanauts(any combination of the two)
3 Deff Dreads
3 units of Killa Kans(formation restriction: All units of Killa Kans must be three models)
Gives you "Biggest an' da Best"(Warlord chosen as part of a Detachment or Formation presented in this book must always issue and accept a challenge whenever possible. Multiple characters with this rule let you pick which one issues/accepts. If a Warlord with this special rule kills an enemy character in a challenge, he can reroll all failed To Wound rolls in CC for the rest of the game) and "Da Boss iz Watchin'(units with Mob Rule gain a +2 modifier to any rolls on Mob Rule and if any Breaking Heads or Squabble results they suffer D3+3 S4 AP- hits instead of D6).
Additionally, they get 'Ere We Go! for the Killa Kans, and Wall of Steel--HoW inflict D3 instead of 1.
"The Red Waagh!" book has a formation called the Gorkanaut Krushin' Krew where at the start of each game turn, you consult a table. Then they gain special rules based on the turn number.
1--Nothing
2--Furious Charge
3--Furious Charge, Hatred
4+--Furious Charge, Hatred, Shred
"Hour of the Wolf" has a formation with some more walkers but also Nobs and Boyz, so dunno if you'd want that.
I had a variation of this built a while back.
Boys jump in the Mork/Gorknauts, Waross is a backfield bully unit, lobbas do what lobbas do - rest is fairly walker standard.

an ork walker list can win a few games if your opponent doesn't know before hand that your fielding walkers. most people think orks are green tide these days, but the dreddmob is unique in that it helps break the mold and can wreck if they didnt bring a lot of melta.
the ghaz dreddmob gives ere we go to all its models, probably the biggest benefit of this formation (bring a warboss and all your walkers can run and charge wth rerolls during a waaagh like all the other ladz).
i would highly suggest the forgeworld walkers, but i can understand not wanting to buy more expensive models than gw (all of my forgeworld stuff are proxy models, custom made ork style toys). forgeworld gave their walkers access to invols which is about the only way to get a save for walkers these days.
if you take the waaagh ghaz dredmob then i highly suggest equiping the bigmek with the waaagh ghaz relic "the mega force field". that coupled with the kff on morkanauts and you have a well defended walker list (at least against ranged combat).
if your feeling flexible you could also try to monopolize on the "orks kustom built everything can be counts as syndrom" and convert normal ork units to look like walkers. that warbuggy (one of the best models in the codex) can be built to have half a killa kan on top and now you have killabuggys. loot some crysis battle suits and turn them into mega armourd nobs (the bully boyz formation is devistateing) or go for speed and make them warbikers (almost everyone fields warbike list if it isnt greentide). take the broadside and make it into the mek gun (arguably the best model in the codex).
and if you want the apex of ork walkers then field the stompa! this thing can be devastating if played right. many have written whole threads on how to best field this thing. i like the strategy of putting a mega force field mek in it and filling to to the brim with meks for repairs, your opponent would be forced to try to take it out in one turn or else it will repair itself back to full.
walkers arnet good as far as rules, but we can work around it. look up any post you can find discussing ork walkers to find what best wargear to get them and try to avoid all the negative comments...we are orks, we eat negative for breakfast and crapp out victory!

Just a note: FW Dredd mob does not require forgeworld models.
It includes them, but it is just an alternate ork list:
The only HQs are Dok, Big Mek and two FW characters including the popular Zhardsnark.
Deff dreads can be taken as troops and in squads of up to 3.
Several standard ork units are not present and some are notably weaker (boyz no Eavy armor and mobs only up to 20, with a Mek instead of nob boss) but Killa Kanz have a significant price reduction and are I believe elites? Check it out for yourself. I run a Dred mob list with only 1 FW unit.

Eh. I mean I'll trade that for being able to scratch build cool Meka dreads and fun weapons.

Well, It was just an idea I had. Not aiming for competetive, Just a fun game against friends ^_^ Hmm... What other fun lists can you build with orks that isent green tide?
I've been having a blast with Blitz Brigade...5 Battlewagons (out whatever you want in em) and they get to scout.
That's a lot of stuff in people's faces early.

So still not pure walker :(
I'm almost certain that the updated dread mob on FW's site has omitted the spanner boyz requirement.
Just checked-it does say "1+ Spanna boyz" which is ambiguous but seems to indicate you must take one.
So, with Dread Mob, you must take one ten man unit of boyz in a Trukk, and then you may take:
-A Meka-Dread as HQ (or big Mek if so desired).
-Deff Dreads in squadrons up to 3 in Troops slots
-35 point Killa Kanz in Fast Attack, squads up to 5
-LoW Stompa
-Mega Dreads as Heavy Support. I custom built my own, they're much less disappointing than the codex Naut's.
That's an all walker army.

With the FW one if you are going for fun you can take them in the Great WAAAGH detachment so long as your opponent doesnt mind (FW email actually said to just house rule it). Then you can have a chance to deep stirke dreads which is just fun.
Personally I like the Krushin Krew and the Dread Mob. At 2000 points you can bring both of those formations barebones. It isnt great but you have 5 gorkanauts, 3 deff dreads, and 9 killa kanz with only 2 infantry/characters. It is a ton of fun though.
My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted
I dont paint quickly

i have a list that focuses on the flying speed freeks. defkoptas, dakka jets and fw warkoptas filled with tankbustas and flashgitz. i see it as my freebooter raiding party (de arnt the only ones that can pull of this look...i just need alot of boyz or grots to get that many fast attack slots).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLdXngi-r_U after seeing this me and my brother had to play it. he adjusted the rules a little (coincidentally i play orks while he played his tau). i was going for mad max warboyz running after his female etherial (catch up and capture or destroy).
he brought 4 devilfish filled with fair warriors and all his battlesuits.
my list i tried to keep in the theme of mad max fury road. i decided to not have any bikes of any kind (just wasnt feeling it), so i brought all my warbuggies (16 total) and 6 trukks filled with shoota boyz (the wargear was a combination of boarding planks, rams, and wrecking balls represented by killa kanz standing on the fronts of the trukks), my "imorkan joe" was capt badruk as the warlord in a fw gunwagon while i had a fw bigtrakk with big lobba and tankbustas.
it was the funnest match i think ive ever had. while he destroyed 2/3rds of my force he accidentally ran his etherial's devilfish into some terrain for an immobilized, and right before he could pick her up in another devilfish i sniped her with the big lobba from the bigtrakk. ork dakka FTW
