So all this time I've been using a Stompa from codex at 770 pts.
I plugged in a FW Kustom Stompa instead (I use Battlescribe) with similar (pretty much the exact same) gear and got 615 pts....is this right?

Yes, the codex stompa just sucks.
It is more expensive, has less and worse weapon options. Always take the kustom stopa if allowed.
If you really want to strange stompa point costs look up the big mek stompa upgrade of buzzop and the Mek stompa

it's an old table from the IA:8 book, but last FAQ I saw said that kustom stompas are a LoW choice for codex orks. So, yup, knock yourself out.
It's not as bad as people taking buzzgob and tacking on an 800 point mek stompa for 300 points. However, that's not entirely kosher, as the rule says that's only allowed in 'apocalypse or other large scale games'.
Anyways. If you're going the kustom stompa route, a flamebelcha is a great head weapon - 30 points for a hellstorm str 6 ap3 template.
I have no idea why the codex stompa was priced that way when the kustom stompa is identical and cheaper. I keep waiting for them to update the kustom stompa builder - honestly, I was hoping for a kustom stompa builder in the codex.

Work stc's are pretty programmed into their DNA. However men's customize all their stuff so its more like a semi-stc.
