So I'm planning on revamping my kingdoms of man army which is currently a hodgepodge of Lord of the rings, warhammer, bones, and other models. I'm thinking of doing an army themed around the American revolution. Obviously this means lots of muskets. I'm planning on still including other units like knights and foot guard and stuff, but I'm wondering just how much shooting is too much?

As a rule of thumb, you probably shouldn't put more than half your points into shooting stuff (and even that is probably stretching it too far).

Not only is shooting stuff more or less immobile if you want them to use their weapons to their full effect, they easily gets disordered by fast throwaway units in cc, so you need fighting stuff to protect them and to gain ground.

the Kepellan league

I found a long line of regiments with a skirmish line of troops with missiles could be quite effective. But I don't know how well that will fit your theme of revolution...

Covers you from charges and can be effective if ignored and you get a flank.

If you want to keep the theme - use the troops with fixed bayonets as either spears or pike.

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.
