I'm not sure when it started but for some weeks BOLS embedded some pop up ads that can't be closed or that forward you without clicking on them to some dubious 'Congratulations, you've won!' Website.
At least for me, this is the final nail in the coffin. The reporting has gotten worse, with duplicate articles for every morsel of news, and headlines that suggest content that simply isn't there.
Does anyone know of another tabletop gaming news site that publishes decent articles and is on top of the rumourmill?

Tabletop Gaming News and The Miniatures Page are the only two other news sites I know of. TGN is owned by CMON so their stuff always gets first billing but the other stuff is reported on based on IIRC what the manufacturers send them (a friend tried advertising a kickstarter he was backing and they said the person running it would have to send them info). Again, that's second hand info so apply salt as needed. TMP is more geared towards historical minis and only gets the "latest" info about them. Sadly, if you want day old info all in one spot, TacoBOLS is the best place.

Do they know that? I've only ever seen opinion pieces posted about new releases.
Oh well, Dakka here is very good with the rumours, we track accuracy rates and are probably the best place to see it first these days but it'll be a forum discussion, not an article.
Alternatively, if you want more of a reporting structure, Beasts of War would be my suggestion.

I saw your german flag BlackCadian and would recommend www.waaaghgaming.de, by far the best informed german-speaking website regarding GW rumors, leaks and news. He is monitoring english and german fansites and has a good track record to sort the reliable rumormongers from those who are not. I have been reading it for about a year and he is fast with info, too. Regarding other than GW www.brueckenkopf-online.net.
Both are not advertising aggressively.

You don't go to BoLS for the articles, you go for the comments. That there is a comedy goldmine.

To be fair, Dakka's N&R isn't always that much better, as just about anything can be posted there, too (and by anybody).
Fortunately, though, the good stuff tends to rise to the top of the N&R page while the bad stuff sinks down.

Try fortifying your browser too. I find that firefox with NoScript, Request Policy Continued, Ghostery and Privacy Badger ( hey, even the paranoid have enemies) pretty much obliterate all the garbage. It'll take a while to create white lists though, but really, it is worth it.
Why would anyone visit that site anyway? Last time I saw it, years ago, it was Advertisement Central. I would not be surprised to find it full of auto-playing Flash ads too. Go to the news sources, rather than a compiler like BoLS.

I think the issue he is referring to is mobile related, BOLS now completely freezes up my safari with unavoidable click throughs to sites I have no reason to trust. They must be insane. I stopped looking too.
Faeit is pretty good for breaking stuff and Dakka as well though it is not as 'blog' easy to look through at a glance.

I use Tabletop Fix. Its mostly just pics of upcoming miniatures but it has a lot of breadth and it is quite comprehensive (aside from GW).

That is a good site actually.
I mostly stick to Dakka, although I like the enthusiasm of BoW and some of their features.
To be fair to BoLS I think it's got better in recent years in covering different types of game systems beyond just 40k although I don't know how popular they are. Before it seemed 90% "type something contentious about an army list or rule, make sure to include motivational poster picture, watch the comments section explode" and a bit too juvenile.

Tabletop Gaming News (TGN) tends to be pretty good. They tend to keep away from the rumor mill (most of the time) so you get less info on GW stuff until there's an official statement. Still, it is a very good source for Kickstarters, as well as good news information on most miniatures companies (large and small).
Also Beasts of War is a good source, and tends to have more discussion going on. They tend to keep away from rumor-reporting until there's some evidence out there to back it up (so they'll have a link to where you can see the minis from the upcoming WD and such).

A lot of people are stating Dakka as the place for news. Am I the only one who finds the news board too busy? There is a huge amount of activity and 99% of it seems to be for niche games I have never heard of (I am guessing they are games, at least). I think it would be nice if the news board were separated across the different games Dakka had boards for (ie a Warhammer news board, a Warmachine board, an Infinity one, etc).

Wow, so many great replies! I looked through most of the suggestions but it will take a longer look. I've got to admit I like the blog format from BOLS, and the fact that most news are about GW products, but there's also frequent other games such as xwing, infinity and that outside the box.
Oh and yes, I am accessing through a tablet. Got to look for some adblockers maybe if there are any.

I wonder how Beasts of War looks on a tablet. They do GW news- just not quite as much far out with the rumor-mill as BOLS.
TGN is my favorite to navagate- the format is straightforward and accessible. But they're not the best spot for GW news (again, since they won't often report on anything until it is official).

If you are using an Android tablet you need to root it in order to install a proper ad blocker. AdBlock Plus and Ad Away in combination work for me for the most part. These apps are not available in the Google Play Store either, for obvious reasons.
If you are on iOS, I can't help you. There used to be a great adblocker, but the author pulled his app from the AppStore. Apparently, it was too effective.
