Subject: [2000] - CSM - Obliterator Spam for Hallow's Eve

I am looking to max out Obliterators in a 2K list. I plan on running zombies in this case, as Typhus has some value, and they are the cheapest, fearless troops that I can muster. I am not quite sure on what to run as the HQ for one of the cads: either Huron, or a ML3 Sorcerer. Here is the list, so far:
CSM CAD
Typhus
Zombies x10
Zombies x10
Obliterators x3 (MoN, VOTLW)
Obliterators x3 (MoN, VOTLW)
Obliterators x3 (MoN, VOTLW)
CSM CAD
HQ ???
Zombies x10
Zombies x10
Obliterators x3 (MoN, VOTLW)
Obliterators x3 (MoN, VOTLW)
Obliterators x2 (MoN, VOTLW)
~A sorcerer (ML3, Spell Familiar, Sigil, GoM) nets in at 165, and I can squeeze in another 10-man squad of zombies. Huron is slightly cheaper, giving me roughly another zombie (oh, joy). The list is slow, but plenty resilient, and some of the Oblit squads will be deepstriking in, for sure. The zombies are just enough to require some dedicated firepower to remove (I usually run blogs of 25, so this will be a refreshing play).
Any thoughts are appreciated, especially in regards to the empty HQ slot.

I'd go with a bare bones ML3 sorcerer with spell familiar. Will only be 125. Stick him with some oblits and get him telepathy so he can psychic shriek some bitches. You could also drop. VOTLW for that group since they'll be Ld 10 with him and save 9 points.

can the 2nd cad take zombies if typhus is in 1st? thought his rules for army list building would only affect his cad.

Typhus' codex blurp states that 'any Chaos Cultist unis in the same army as Typhus can be nominated as Plague Zombies.' So, this meets that criteria and hence allows for multiple CAD zombie spam.
Fabius would be fun to run, but I can't work in the points necessary to run enhanced marines like I want (a big, bad blob squad). The bare-bones sorcerer also seems like a good option, although I am leaning towards the dropping of another Oblit and then beefing up said sorcerer with the Burning Brand and possibly a Palanquin.

If you want a Palanquin then you need to give him MoN. I'd highly recommend keeping him unmarked so you can maximize rolls on telepathy or whatever table you choose. He can hide with the oblits who are majority toughness 5 so he'll be well protected. If you want him to be tougher, I would say either give him termi armor or a bike, but I think cheaper is better.
As for the Burning Brand, that's your call but you want to keep your oblits flexible in the shooting phase, and if they fire at a vehicle the brand is mostly worthless for that round.

Good points, UncleanOne. The Brand is great for overwatch in this build, but probably not worth the points. Since I want to keep the Oblits shooting as much as possible, I find it hard to pinpoint a good spell tree outside of Divination (and I don't want to run Crimson Slaughter, as I am a believer in VOTLW for max-Oblit squad size).
However, I am digging the Telepathy/cheap route. If I want to make him more killy, it is probably better just to run another lord instead.

Telepathy for sure. Psychic Shriek is very powerful, as is Shrouding and Invisbility. But Terrify is good too, since it reduces leadership it works well with Psychic Shriek. Everything is good pretty much except Hallucination.
Also just a small note, if you put the Sorcerer with a squad of Obliterators, their "Slow and Purposeful" will carry over on to him, so he actually won't be able to Overwatch with the Brand as long as he's with them. Same thing if you stick him with the Zombies. Just another reason not to take it

Does it confer to the character? I thought it was one of the rules that did not, but sounds like I could be wrong ( gasp! will have to dig that one up with a rulebook in hand).
But...You sold me at Shrouding.

Ha True. Not much that I can do about the paper/rock/scissors aspect of 40K. In this case, more bubble-wrapping zombies might help (who really don't care about grav; same with Spawn), but a 5+ save for the oblits is better than nothing, I suppose (although not by much).

Don't need to bubble wrap, oblits are daemons and get a 5++ naturally.
