Hi all,

I am currently painting Kharn the Bloody from Forgeworld and I can't decide what legion to paint the marine on his display base. I have modelled him with Gorechild because it just looks better IMO but I want him to be true to the fluff of the heresy. So, I was wondering, when Kharn acquires Gorechild and gets it fixed, which legions does he go on to fight against?

Thanks,
Ed

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

If he had it in Ultramar then Ultramarines I suppose.
If he had it on Terra then Imperial Fists, White Scars and Blood Angels for sure.
I think he was around for the scouring, so you could probably put anyone there.

Not Calth. Armatura. But they were fighting Ultramarines then. However, Gorechild never saw combat there. It stands to reason that the first battle would be with Ultramarines, but the book ends with
Spoiler:
Kharn fighting Erebus in a duel and his first killing task was killing slaves on the World Eater ship. No actual fighting Astartes after Gorechild was revived.

I have read betrayer (well, listened to it on audio book) but that was a couple of years ago and I can't quite remember the details too well. I guess the chances would be good that they carried on the shadow crusade against the Ultramarines after Nuceria.

Hmm yeah, he acquired Gorechild after Angron discarded it on Armatura. But when was it repaired? I know he got a Mechanicum guy to pick up all the Mika dragon teeth and raid the skeleton of one in their hall of conquest.

Without going back to read Betrayer I don't know if he had actually used it in that. SharkoutofWata is probably correct though.

Liverpool!

Safest bet would be for any of the defenders of Terra as has been mentioned. It'll definitely see some action there, if you're painting him in World Eaters white and blue but with a lot of red on I'd go for Imperial Fists.

Blood Angels - too much red overall
White Scars - you've got him in white and blue
Imperial Fists - I hate the colour yellow so do that but you know, all bloodied and battered

Emperor's Children would also be good. When he became 'Kharn the Betrayer', or maybe it was when he just shattered the legion... I don't remember off the top of my head, on Skalathrax, that was against Emperor's Children.
