Started my fourth army this year: Blood Angels! These plogs always work well to keep you motivated, and any tips or criticism are always appreciated. I got really inspired by armies that go for the more darker, weathered Blood Angels like those of LutherMax and Eggroll - instead of the bright red pristine ones that GW makes - so I fully intended to make mine in the same vein.

Here's my progress so far:

Cassor the Damned:

It appears somewhat brighter and more bluish than it does in person, but you get the idea.

Sicaran with lascannon sponsons:

This is probably my favourite tank of the ones I've made so far, both in looks and in rules.

Scout Squad; one sergeant with power sword and melta bomb and 4 guys with close combat weapons:

Also finished my Sanguinary Priest with Valour's Edge and a jump pack. Also settled on a snow theme for my Blood Angel bases, which I'll be adding to the already finished Scouts and Death Company Dreadnought later. Sadly the snow doesn't photograph very well because it whites out very easily, but you get the idea.

Lookin nice! I really like the way you did the power sword and jump pack on the sanguinary priest!

My milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard and they're like, hurr darry darr.

My suggestion to you is to get married, if you have a good wife you'll be happy, if you have a bad wife you'll become a philosopher.

That Dreadnought is sweet! Great fades with the blues and the blacks, really brings out the contours of the shapes. The blades too are exquisitely painted.

Finished my Commander Dante conversion, made from Sanguinary Guard bits and the Sanguinor's backpack. I had the official Dante model, but he just look so outdated and weedy compared to the Sanguinary Guard.

I've magnetised the backpack, so I can always use it for the Sanguinor once I paint up the rest of him.

Very nice. I still like the Dante model, but you're right that he looks small nowadays.

Thanks guys! Finished the Sanguinary Guard!

The sword guys:

Detail of the back:

The AP2 guys. The one on the left has been removed from the default line-up and has been replaced by the powerfist guy because the axe wielder now looks too much like Dante (which I painted up after), hence the use of the same bits/pose. But I'm sure he'll come in useful whenever I want to switch around wargear.

And the whole team together:

I love this squad on the tabletop, Dante is such a boss. I think the current killcount record of 5 SG + Priest + Dante was over 50 Orks in a single match (a combination of Lootas, 'Ard Boyz, Stormboyz and Bikers) without losing a single guy. Of course, their next encounter with Ghazghkull Thraka and his bodyguard of Mega-Nobz in the next game with the same player did not fare as well, but they still managed to come out on top.

These are wonderful. I must say my favorite part is the "not red but res" of the sicaran and the scouts. It fits the Blooday Angels remarkably well.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm very satisfied with how the red turned out, I feel it gives them a somewhat more realistic vibe than the regular GW colour scheme. It did take a certain amount of experimentation and internet research to get it right though:

Here's the Sicaran when I had just finished it's basecoat, besides a Baal Predator hull I did earlier which has a different, more purplish red attempt (and I need to redo in the orange-red in the future). I liked the colour in its own - I ended up using it for the Sanguinary Priest's robe and the Sanguinary Guard's banner - but for an entire army it was too prominent. Not to mention making it to similar in colour to my bright-red Saim-Hann Eldar, as seen on the Wave Serpent print in the background.

Nice job with the colour scheme Redemption

What do you have in plans for this army? Building up something big or just a smaller force for playing?

Thanks Eggroll! As I said in my first post, your army is a big inspiration.

I have well over a 100 Blood Angels models (5000+ points) lying around the house, ready to be assembled and painted, but first I'm focussing on assembling and painting my first 2k point list. Then I'll slowly start adding stuff so I can have some variety between games.

This is my current todo list for the first 2k list:
Done:
Commander Dante
Sanguinary Priest
6x Sanguinary Guard
Death Company Dreadnought
5x Scouts
Sicaran

Doing:
1x Drop pod

Todo:
5x Assault Squad
6x Biker
Furioso Dreadnought
1x Drop pod
10x Death Company
Librarian Dreadnought
10x Tactical Squad
1x Drop pod

The pose of the Sergeant was inspired by the famous frescoes of Michelangelo at the Sistine Chapel, of God reaching down to give Adam the finger. Except now it's a Blood Angels spreading the word of combi-melta.

Sweet af minis, but man does the snow basing not work for me. Might be the photo effect but from light to texture it just feels completely out of tune with the rest of the minis. And not in your work only, it gets even worse with brighter minis, such as SW, usually.
Otherwise, obviously, awesome painting.

Yeah, the snow is really hard to photograph well; it looks better in real life. Because it refracts and reflects light, it appears much brighter under the multiple lights required to capture the paintjob well, and these are still relatively dark pictures. Of course I'm not even remotely a professional photographer either.

Nice weathering on the vehicles, and the tonality of the colours is very sober, which I totally like.

Keep 'em coming!

Nice job on the latest bikers and assault squad. What's in the queue next? Also, I think it's time you put up an army shot!

Next up are Lemartes and a Librarian conversion from the Deathwatch Overkill one, who were bumped up the queue before the Furioso Dread to enter in a painting event.

I'll do an army shot once I have a fully painted 2000 point list, as currently all the models you see here are all I have painted.
