hi, hopefully an easy question:

battlescribe is only letting me take 8 plague drones, but the daemon codex says they come in units of 3, and i can add up to 6 more.

did i miss an FAQ? or is battle scribe just wrong?

Battle scribe is not an official rules source. You codex is what the actual rules are so you can take 9

Battlescribe gets so much hate but in all reality they are about 95% accurate. They have small mistakes here and there bit they are so useful

For your situation you can upgrade the plaguedrone to the plaguebringer. If you were going to that anyway then your problem is solved. If not just add 5 points to the total points the game will be add the plague bringer and just let your opponent know. There's always a solution to these kinds of issues.

When you add up all they get wrong(sometimes based on new codex vs new update) battlescribe is only about 85 percent accurate) but even then they are going for first gut reading based off old rules which is generally closer to intent than RAW to begin with.

The whole reason I rage-quit 4th was the old rulesboys telling me "it works like it did in third" for a gaping hole in the rules(SM chaplain takingva plasma pistol had to re-purchase a power weapon in order to have his default crozious hy RAW, amongst some other shenanigans of the RAW).

Not just 40k but almost any game is meant to be played RAI. It's just the way it is. If someone tried to get you on some RAW rule when the way it is meant is just as clear then you should slap them.

RAW one ork looted wagon consists of 1 gorkanaut. "Yeah but that's obvious" "NO! RAW"

You probably selected the Plaguebringer (which I assume is an upgrade for one Drone to become a Plaguebringer) which reduces the maximum allowance of Plague Drones to 8, the unit still is at 9 models though.
Selecting Special Weapons for an AM Veteran Squad also reduces the number of regular Veterans you can bring, since the squad size has to be 10 in total.
It's cumbersome, but it does work and results in legal units. Could it be done in a more intuitive way? Sure!

mine is only listing the plaguebringer as 15 points.
i put a note in that battle scribe thread, they'll figure it out i hope. it's not a huge issue to have an error message on there.
