Subject: Eldar, dark eldar and harlequins 3 hit combo?

Looking to make a funny.... Eldar army. Containing elements from all 3 eldar codex.
I already plan on a wraith host for the eldar
Wondering what would pair well from the dark eldar / harlequin end of things?
THe idea is a competitive but not horrible broken list for 2000 pts.
I've spent about 1000pts on the Wraithhost.
So about 500 each for the remaining factions.
Any suggestions? Also looking for tips on how to run it so its not a push over. But I don't want to be unbeatable either. Cause that's no fun

A Heroes Path in FA Venoms is pretty sweet. Combine Telepathy with the mad Ld negs DE and Covens can impose and you can do some serious damage. If you've got a Wraithfighter or Telepathy Farseer in with the CWE, it'll only make the concoction that much nastier.
I wonder if anyone's written a series of articles about how to combine these three to devastating effect?

So after spending a week reading and studying your suggested guide - very well done I must say - it is more of a "scary closet mind games" theory. I'm more of a "freight train with a sledge hammer" style.
That said some awsome points in the guide. Here's what I'm thinking and I would love a critique and some feedback. (Any thing I say to counter is just me "spitballing" - not shutting down advise)
I like the idea of wraith units as my core. So a wraith host gets the primary. 1000 pts there.
A harlequin backup is just awsome. So a cast of players and a heroes path adds another 600. Leaving 400 or so to work with.
A real space Raiders gives me an Archon (to help in cc) although kitting him is a question. 2 venom squads of warriors fill the troops, while 3 FA venoms and 3 more raiders round out. (The raiders are for the wraith gaurd/blades)
All told the "plan"
The entire army deploys turn one. The warrior venoms advance to cover and screen the wraith raiders, while the harlequin characters Attack the flanks - supported by the knight/wraith lord as needed. If all goes to plan a veritable Mack truck hits the enemy turn 2. The D weapon wraith units for shooting, the wraith blades/solitare/archon for close combat and the vehicles for everything else.
I would think the list is vulnerable to a strong anti tank enemy first turn - so deployment is crucial. But it gives me a solid showing from all 3 factions with even model counts. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Corsairs update next month, and they sound right up your alley. The added warhost for Eldar even has an option for Harlies. So you may be able to knock this out in 2 detachments instead of 3/4.
Your idea makes for a very vulnerable T1 without much damge output. Ideas would be to push for Deepstrikes/Outflanks/infiltrates. Making the Troupe Master the Warlord could help alleviate that stress, but thats pretty random. (Still the coolest option). Its easy enough to hide single man units (outside of drop pods), and the few you get from the Path will actually take a bit of attention to remove.

That's the hope. The heros path stuff is pretty kick butt and should be tough to take out. It can't be ignored either. So it's a choice. Dedicate a huge portion of army to take out a part of that (hopefully not the solitare) - and let the rest of the army do bad things, or ignore them and watch them inflict pain. Same is true for the WK, wraith gaurd etc. Heck, even the troupe and 5 man warrior teams might pose a solid threat that can't just be ignored and may be a pain to remove.

Straight out the gate, I really only have one concrete thought: dump the Archon for a Succubus. If you want a dedicated CC unit, she's better in almost every way.
Other than that, sounds fairly balanced. I think it could work.

The dark eldar Hq will be riding with the wraithblades and should have pretty good protection from them. I guess a succubus Would be a better add. Given her job is gonna be piling on wounds in the fight. If also like it if she can handle a challange, although this unit should be hitting weaker stuff while the solitaire goes after anything scary in a challange - and should win it easily. High init, high attacks, good WS.... I'm like "dang this is awsome" - hopefully it plays as well as it looks on paper.
What about the idea of warrior venoms? I plan on 5 guys with blaster taking the venom then giving it to the other guys in the heroes path (since points are tight) - this leaves essentially 10 guys on foot to.... I guess camp an objective or find cover and be annoying? If caught in the open or even otherwise they probally die to a sideways glance....

Ooh. Warriors on foot aren't a great idea. Plus you'd lose a turn shuffling in and out of the Dedicated Transports.
How many points are you looking at?

2000 - and I thought I don't have to start in a DT. The warriors can deploy, the venoms go someplace else, and the heros path deploy beside the venom. Turn one they hop on, and it zooms off.
Or instead of buying the venoms as DT - I could just buy them as FA - and be done with it. Deploy the harlequins inside FA venoms and done. It means the warriors are stuck on foot - so I imagine hiding in cover someplace and keeping thier heads down, (maybe the other side will forget/ignore them in favor of the more scary Things I'm using) - and they **might** just score an objective.
Otherwise
I suppose i could drop the cast of players - it's worth another couple of venoms and was lookng at footslogging anyway. - but that leaves me only 3 harlequin models, wich i wanted to avoid the "you only take the most powerful of each" argument.
Yea it's a 3 faction list, and I'm taking strong stuff - but by taking a few less then awsome units as "tax"' maybe that deflects some of the argument

Your list contains Dark Eldar Kabalites, I dont think you have much more to worry about for "tax" units.

Well with respect - my kabalites have actually done pretty well in games in the past.
Mind that was 6th and my venomspam was top dog - to the point people asked me to stop playing with them. The warriors did pretty decent considering the points cost.
I've no idea or illusions on them for this list. ... T3 5+ armor ... It's pretty much get into cover, keep head down and hope to ambush some poor shmuck who happens to get too close. Maybe run out and fetch an objective if the opportune moment arrives.
Any idea on kit for the succubus, or heroes path characters? The succubus needs a wwp so she can bring in the wraith blades, but not sure what else will help.

Succubus is questionable choice, but I guess you should buy the glaive for the extra strength.
But otherwise the Mask of Secrets is a necessary upgrade for shadowseer, as well as ML2. The rose on the solitaire is ok, but I don't think its worth the points.

The Heroes Path should only get 3 upgrades: Mask of Secrets (of course!) And ML2 Seer, and a Haywire Grenade on the Solitaire.
The grenade is only really thrown, but its good insurance for knocking off that extra hull point.

So the 2k list I've developed:
(Not listing the formations, should be obvious)
Spirit seer
5 Wraith gaurd
5 wraithgaurd
5 wraith blades (axe/shield)
Wraith lord, glaive and scatter
Wraith knight (double D cannon)
Solitaire w/ mask of secrets, haywire
Death jester
Shadow seer lvl2
Succubus, haywire, architect glaive, wwp
5 warriors, venom 2xSC
5 warriors " "
Venom 2xSC
Venom " "
Venom " "
Raider
Raider
Warriors do.... I dunno. Warrior stuff.
The Harley's load into FA venoms, and do heroic things
Spirit seer, succubus join the blades and portal In?
Gaurd ride around on raiders shooting at things
Wraith lord says " hi im a distraction! Look at me!"
While the knight blows up tanks and makes scary faces at the other guy
Wondering if the wraith blades should portal in with seer and succubus, or should they raider with the seer only, and the succubus portals in with a wraithgaurd unit?

You can always switch up who you are going to put the wwp character with. If you want to alpha strike something in cover, go with the scythes, heavies and super heavies take the cannons and take the axes if there's a lot of high str low ap weapons around.
Also can't the raiders deep strike? You might want to deep strike them in. If you do then even if the raiders get blown up the wraith guard (w.e variant) won't have to foot slog it across the board.
The wraithlord isn't much of a distraction with just a scatter laser. I like to throw two bright lances on him because then he can hurt pretty much anything and people take him A LOT more seriously. Plus he can put a hull point on a super heavy with relative consistency which is always nice

So I ran my first game - approx 1100 each. Took a Wraithhost (1 unit of blades axe and shield, 1 cannon gaurd and 1 scythe gaurd, the seer, lord with 2 lances flamer glaive and catapult, knight with cannons, scatter, starcannon against a chaos army with 2 units of cultists, a dark apostle, a lvl 2 caster of some kind, 3 bikes, a hellblade, pred and 2 vindis. He got invisibility and scream for his powers and I ended up with reveal/conceal and the +1 WS/init.
Game was pretty close. He kept putting invisibility on his vindicator. My knight was able to drop one of them 1st turn, the pred in the 2nd and finally the last vindi in turn 5 - but not before it managed to take out the blades and my cannon gaurd. The wraithlird got combat with cultists but since they had fearless it was a tarpit. The knight decided to engage in combat with the other cultists at turn 6 - while they were invisible then the game ended.
A few things I learned.
1: battle focus is DIRTY. Being able to move, shoot then run is CRAZY! The potential for that is simply mind boggling. Being able to move out of cover, shoot, then jump back out of Los is very powerful.
2: the formation bonus of rerolling hits for units within 18 of the seer is also REALLY strong. That ability actually allowed my knight to kill the invisible vindi. Shot twice missed. Reroll = 1 hit and with the D weapon got enough damage to wreck it. But wow. That ability provided a lot more damage then I would have had otherwise.
3: the knight is really strong. I felt kind of bad taking it at such a small point level. But as its required by the formation - I had to. I can definitly see how people would have a hard time fighting one, let alone 2 or more. Personally I won't be taking a second one unless I'm 2500 pts or more. And that's only if i actually go and purchase a second one.
4; invisibility is really powerful as well. And very hard to counter. Aparently you can't overwatch flamers against it, can't stomp it.... Yea. Really a pain to deal with. But had he not had it I would have rolled him turn3.
5; the wraith gaurd/blades really need a transport or something to be effective. On foot, even with battle focus takes way to long to get them in effective range, and even then they take way too much Fire for a 5 wound unit to absoarb, without psyker or transport or both supporting.
